This has a meaty/bbq style of smoke to it, so I suspect it has some Lagavulin or Ardbeg in the mix. The nose is pleasant and very malty, but the palate and finish have an off-note that I can't quite place my finger on. This could be due to my senses still recovering from Covid, but I haven't noticed this off-note in the other two drams I've had tonight. I will re-taste in a week or so, when I'm sure my nose and palate are at their best.
Senses back to normal, off-note gone. Once again, I prefer ex-bourbon maturation for Islay whisky, but this is still decent, and others may like it more.
