  1. Sebastian Ho scored this whisky 91 points Newbie

An exceptional blended paints ... in the wet luscious cherries and plums and chocolate. The taste with a lot of tobacco, leather and cherry. The finish is wonderfully soft and surprisingly long with persistent cherries, leather and fruity notes ... just a great 25 year old paints as it should be

    Shop info:

"Newmake from two of the most famous Speyside distilleries were blended directly after distillation and then matured in a sherry hogshead for 25 years. Total winner and a real curiosity with only 47 bottles. Who is somewhere between Glendronach, Glenrothes, Glen Moray and Macallan in terms of taste can sort in, may strike here without hesitation.

    Nose:
Strong and full-bodied with leather and old wood, deep old-school sherry, lots of dark fruits, chocolate, cocoa, marzipan, nuts and coffee.

    Palate: strong and full-bodied:
Oily and creamy with ripe, dark fruits, raisins, sherry oloroso, dark chocolate, cocoa and coffee. Strong and complex with tobacco and old leather and a good hint of tannins.

    In the finish:
Long and pleasant, with coffee, chocolate, nuts, almonds, tobacco, old leather and a great oak note. "
