Whisky Reviews for Rittenhouse Rye

- A gem from the past. Aroma is a nice rye-heavy spicy profile with a touch of fruity sweetness; Palate is sweet and a touch coppery and moves through elegant and smooth (yes I said it) in a way that’s enticing but not boring; Finish fades out a bit oaky with a sweet kicker.
- Rittenhouse Rye has always been on my wish list, i was hoping to find an age statement bottle but i have had no luck yet. So this is just their standard distillery bottling, and it was quite cheap. For what it is and what i paid for it, i enjoyed it and it goes down easy, straight. I will still be on the hunt for their age statement bottling's.
- I bought this as a treat to myself and enjoyed it for what it's worth.
Lots and lots of stewed fruit in a big pan, a cherry ice lolly and some blood orange. The nose is not great, this what i found after a lot of nosing, inside the house and out.
Quite smooth and sweet as it should be. It has a slight taste of Bourbon in there, but over all the candy taste is what dominates this Rye.
A short and sweet finish, but very pleasant.
- No water to this one if you are not into the bourbons like me.
Not overly sweet; caramel; grainy, cereal. Develops on sweet vanilla, then onto candy floss. Sweet candy, perfume; toffifee.
Water - loses some of the sweetness; cereals.
With time - something dirty comes up; oily.
Smooth. Bitter; white pepper;
Water - moved towards bourbon profile - orange; toffee
Medium; Pepper bites the tongue, then sweet, then bourbon like with more pepper.
