Whisky Reviews for Edradour 10-year-old

10 users have left a review for this whisky and scored it an average of 84.83 points

  1. Marko_I did not rate this whisky Connoisseur

Tasty stuff, tasty, velvety - the current bottling is, on the other hand, more original, more edgy, but also more complex, more versatile. Nice review in my beginners time.
    • Nose
when pouring in and from afar a nice apricot and Mirabellennote, from nearby then mild-spicy, dry, gingerbread, milk chocolate, wooden pencil, a touch of leather
    • Taste
velvety, sweet, despite 40% rather full-bodied and intense, molasses, chocolate - with time in the mouth increases the cocoa content
    • Finish
long, mjam - a lot of cocoa, kamillan, some licorice

  3. Albaron scored this whisky 88 points Specialist

Convincing, the alcohol irritates for 40%, but goes well with the character, which is already strong, nice sherry aroma, very balanced. Easy to drink
    • Nose
Toffee, sherry, brown cane sugar, but noticeable alcohol, a bit bitter, slightly malty, a sour undertone, a touch of herbal mix, raisins, prunes and some leather
    • Taste
slight pepper spiciness, a little subliminal alcohol, but then immediately toffee, sherry, here too the brown cane sugar, a touch of forest honey, slightly sour, the raisins are also very present here through the whole taste experience, a little oak herbs lead to the finish
    • Finish
The raisins are still there, along with the oak herbs and a few tannins

  4. Dre73 scored this whisky 84 points Connoisseur

Nice sherried whisky. Although it feels a little weak, there's still enough to discover. Pleasant for sure, a style of whisky we cannot find anymore these days, which makes it extra pleasant.
    • Nose
      85 85
Very attractive nose, clear sherry notes: red fruits, leather, some oily, gasoline. Raisins, very floral as well.
    • Taste
      83 83
A little pickering, mostly smooth. Red fruits, berries, some leather, milk chocolate. A little thin mouthfeel though.
There's also some typical older maltstyle now.
    • Finish
      83 83
Very smooth and soft, milk chocolate, red fruits, berries. A little thin, but somehow the red fruity notes remain for pretty some time.

So this old bottling, bought in 1996 in the old bottle, is super yummy, soft and with a lot of honey sweetness. The new ones are really bad against it.

  6. Dieter_W scored this whisky 88 points Expert Senior

Nice part I like him very much
    • Nose
Jau, fruity on the nose, many peaches, apricots, pineapple, pears and mirabelle plums. I feel a little smoke in the background.
    • Taste
The taste goes one step further. Very intense oily and full. Not thin at all It could also be more than 40% Again, light soapy that many do not like Edradour.
    • Finish
medium for a 10 with 40 vol. but ok.

I have always liked these older 10 year olds, well worth seeking out and much better than newer versions.
    • Nose
Pleasant on a little dark chocolate, coffee, touches of melon and orange and rich syrupy steamed sponge.
    • Taste
Very easy drinking, on sherried chocolate, hints of caramel and as on the nose sponge pudding of syrup/tracle/
    • Finish
      Pretty long on refined sherry.

  10. Feusi scored this whisky 82 points Connoisseur

Honey and sweet malt with a surprisingly long finish. Some sweet spices, chocolate and maybe some coffee? Very pleasant to drink, remember me a bit on Aberlour 10yo and a Rosebank F&F.
