APPEARANCE: Deep gold, towards pale brown colour. High viscosity, thick, slow legs.
NOSE: A lot of sweet oak wood, intense and a bit one dimensional but quite pleasant. Vanilla, banana, saw mill, new and old sawdust mixed, XO cognac and marzipan. With a few drops of water; some additional tea notes. In the empty glass there are also orchard fruit notes (86-87p)
TASTE: Medium viscosity, some black pepper, honey, mild woodiness. Warming. With a few drops of water; mint (83p)
FINISH: Wood spice; black pepper tannins, sweetness. With a few drops of water; chewing saw dust. (84p)
OVERALL: I think this is fairly young but is not raw anymore and has had some intense wood maturation. Virgin oak and/or first fill Bourbon? 43-46% ABV? Total score 84-85 points.
