[January, 2017]  This is most probably a Fino sherry refill cask, unfortunately nothing is stated on the label.  And like most Fino sherried drams it needs some time to breathe and some drops of water to unfold its full beauty.

The nose is shy at the beginning, but after some water it shows nice honey-sweet and sherry aromas combined with floral notes.  The body is fat, oily and true old-fashioned style - really lovely.  The taste is all about raisins, nutmegs, dark chocolate and ripe homegrown fruits.  And the finish is quite long with lots of different layers.

PS: I rate the price according to what I paid for this bottle long time ago, not to todays collector's prices.

On the nose there is a big honey note mixed with a little menthol and wet grass also a big dollop of fresh cream, maybe a hint of peat.
Peat on the palate but it is very dry and austere, not much to it, rather chewy and then a blast of fizzy spice livens things up but it is all out of kilter like everything is fighting against each other rather than complimenting each other, still great to try Dufftown from the 1960`s as the opportunity does not come along very often.
A solid, tasty malt but a bit of a rollercoaster.

    Sample courtesy of hs305.

Noise; rich turkish-delight with sweet maltiness.

Palate; juicy, oily and rich with musty-old sherry and raisins.

The finish is medium with intense musty-sherry maltiness, old honey with a hint of rain dew.

An excellent dram! By far the best of the samples from hs305, thus far.

[June, 2017]  I did a re-tasting today and fully confirm my review from January.  This is old stuff at its best...

Strong, courageous, very good in flavor. There is a pleasant sweetness in the taste, although there is a little bourbon douche.
