So my first daftmill, hard to get the stuff, somehow hardly anyone opens it. No flavor recipes yet and 2 points, seriously?

Bourbon direct and intense but also somehow fresh after mint herbs grass and wood. Then comes pastries and citrus fruits. Delicious lowlander style

Ou wow that's something else. Somehow strange, but not annoying and then comes bourbon vanilla and fruit with herbs. Delicious. What fruit is that? Very special and really good .. My taste and very interesting. I don't give it water. Good as it is .. Hey there is still honey or jam ..
    • Finish
      89 89
The herbs wood and bourbon vanilla come in the finish. Medium length and very pleasant. I wanted a whole bottle. But from 200euro? There was half too much for me

My first Daftmill - I found the nose really impressive and one of the fruitiest I've tried, but the palate rather bland.

From a commercial sample. Visible cask sediment, which is always good to see.

Immediate overripe fruit - banana, peach, mango, really sharp and striking. Floral too, with a delicate dandelion sweetness and lemon skin. Touch of white pepper. The nose reminds me of another lowlander (https://www.whiskybase.com/whiskies/whisky/85161/auchentoshan-2002-dl) with its icing sugar, but this is significantly better. It would benefit from a little more power, but the fruit is starting to rot now, which is surprisingly pleasant. Set honey.
    • Taste

Hyper-clean and bright, subtle, perhaps a little too reserved. Good mouthfeel and body, but the flavour is rather bland - I'm not getting much beyond sweet, dusty malt.
    • Finish
      85 85
      Medium-short, clean, gently malty.

This has some age to it and is well worth seeking out. The pleasure you'll get from drinking it is greater than pleasure you'll get from flipping the bottle. Pancakes should be flipped - not whiskies.

      Barley sugars, some spice, cereal.
    • Taste
      85 85
Very light, pear drops with a touch of spine at the edge.
    • Finish
      85 85
It lingers pleasantly - a gentle warmth.

All in all a great Bourbon Cask malt from the Lowlands with intense aromas.

Would it be worth EUR 150 from an objective point of view? No, certainly not. There are more complex malts that better suit my taste profile.
    • Nose
      88 88
The nose is great. I have cinnamon, pastries (the Ikea cinnamon buns come to my mind ..), citrus notes, tropical fruit and some grass. Everything is beautifully interwoven.
    • Taste
      86 86
The taste comes with vanilla and a herbal note.
    • Finish
      85 85
The finish is of medium length, and then the oak appears.

Daftmill 2007 Winter Batch is an excellent representative of once famous lowland style. It is pure yet grassy, with just sufficient oak, fruit and herbal presence to make it interesting but not overwhelming. I liked taste and finish over aroma. It's still young but distillate with such quality is and will always be very sought-after.
    • Nose
      86 86
Fresh, green young grass, a bit yeasty, with some nice fresh fruits (apples, pears) , a touch of mint and herbs. It's like a warm spring morning in the countryside...
    • Taste
      89 89
Mellow, warming, sweet but gentle. We can find here butterscotch, linden honey, vanilla, ripe red apples, a tender but firm touch of oak, spices such as pepper and nutmeg.
Taste is like an autumn to me.
    • Finish
      89 89
Medium length, sweet with oaky bitterness. Very pleasant.
