A very good standard that can be bought again and again in 2020 for less than 30 €. There may be fluctuations in the different batches, but you can't go wrong with this whisky if you are looking for a tasty and cheap whisky with smoky notes.

Smoky / sweet with a maritime influence.

Full, subtle sweetness with pleasant smoky notes and a nice balance of aromas.

Medium-long with clear sweetness and a pleasant smoky note. As one would expect, from a widely accepted standard.

Simply amazing, my go-to peated whisky that doesn't overwhelm in smokiness and allows you to further explore notes. Its usually easily available and all that for a relatively low price!

This is one of my first single malt decently appreciated. This review is based on what I had tonight, having the bottled opened and dram regularly served for a period of 6 months.
Nose: The first sniff presents the juicy mango along with other light notes of tropical fruit. Some light notes of wax or vaseline also came with a forceful sniff, and together with the tropical fruits, I am reminded with the Clynelish 14...Peatiness is of course presented, along with some smell of steel spoons. After setting, the mango dissappeared, while the salty brine predominated. With a few drops of water, the waxiness and fruits became clearer.

Palate: Some light, superficial yet delightful sweetness, and lovely peppery mouth feel could be perceived. Slight bitterness. With the fruity fragrance vanished, the peatiness became more pronounced.

Finishing: Intense, long and smoky aftertaste lingers in the mouth, also reminding me of some overcooked red bean sweet soup. Caramel came lastly on the pharynx, just fantastic!

      Salty, gluey.

      Oily texture.
Intense salty experience. Later, light fruit comes through, like orange juice. Pepper sensation in the end.
    • Finish
      80 80
Aftertaste is sweeter. Salt and pepper strongly present. Smoky at the end and lingers for a long time.
