tasty, yellow fruity, lots of peat for Speyside/Benromach, Kuhstall (positive)

the release price was certainly ambitious, but the market has caught up with it

For me some better than various Laphi 10 CS batches

What a nice fruity smoker. citrus flavors. An interplay between the fruit and smoke aromas.
Slightly bitter finish, which slowly turns into a fresh lemon taste at the end.

Blindspot 72 by ... tadaa: @Ed_Radour. That would be a smoker, at first badly smelly with bitumen, cowshed and what felt like a little sulfur, after a little air everything dissolves in pleasure, round, not ashy, tree sap, balm, soot, fresh tar, vanilla, banana bread. Also here for sure> 50%. As you know, Islay is not my area of expertise and I am sure that I have had the sample longer than it is out of here: Unnamed Islay 28 Signatory [179624] A little ashier with water. Green simmering branches. Delicious stuff, 90 points.
At Benromach, of course, you've got the right one and I've wanted to try the bottling for a long time. Interestingly, it has the same smoke notes, which are strong for Benromach conditions, such as this one here: [115333]. The 8cl whisky beforehand will have had its share, but it comes across as older and more dignified than the 9yo: lol: I find it strange at Benromach that their top distillate is ironed over with vanilla, coconut and banana even for single tasks, it fits here but.

My first pure bourbon benromach - exciting! Until now everyone I've tried had sherry at least in Vatting.
The first-fill bourbon barrels contribute a strong and for Benromach unusual sweetness that is not found in the rather tart and dry core range bottlings. The barrel quality has a positive effect on the palate: even after prolonged chewing, the malt still releases new (wood-based) facets that range from creamy to spicy.
    • Nose
First smoke, vanilla, and clearly pungent alcohol. Behind it actually pineapple and sweet, ripe citrus fruit - maybe clementine. At first, I don't really enjoy smelling it undiluted because it keeps pinching my nose.
It becomes more pleasant with more time in the glass. The smoke now becomes more complex and takes on a slightly dirty barn note.
    • Taste
Extremely sweet when undiluted, with rapidly increasing, but well-defined wood spiciness in the middle. Creamy / oily and spicy / peppery at the same time. A bit brute, but still very good.
Still ginger-sharp and tingling with water, now a darker, sooty to charred side comes out (charcoal?).
I don't find it really fruity on the palate. With a lot of goodwill, I could guess vague citrus notes and perhaps an even more distant hint of tropical fruit.
    • Finish
Smoke, citrus, vanilla. Slightly salty and tart rather than sweet at the back. Very long; covers the entire oral cavity with an oily film.
