NOSE: Very vinous nose with raisins, fortified wine, dried orange and lemon peel, orange liqueur and something herbal. Even a hint of maltiness (yes, I know...) Classy. The nose takes water very well. (90p)
TASTE: Almost malty arrival. Light sweetness. Quite a bit of grain. Rich for a grain whisky, with a viscous, almost oily mouthfeel. Takes water well; becomes fruitier and grapey, sligthly drier while also a little peppery. (88p)
FINISH: The finish is slightly sweet while the aftertaste gradually moves toward a touch of white pepper. Fairly long but unsophisticated. With a little water oak notes appear. (85-86p)
OVERALL: Very tasty and interesting grain whisky which has been successfully finished in an ex Champagne liqueur barrel. Total score 88 (87) points.
