8yo, really? If you told me sweet little 16, I would have believed you. Much more mature than any of the A'bunadhs of the last years, even decade...
The nose is compacted with oranges, some of them blood oranges and candied, marzipan, krokant (english?), , milk chocolate, nutty oloroso with a touch of very old balsamico vinegar to make it super interesting. On the palate a repitition of the nose explodes, with the balsamico making the mouth watering difference with a darker (60+%) chocolate now. This is top class. The finish fits the overall impression is rather geeentle but looonger than expected. This is worth to be your x-mas or birthday dram. There must be very happy people out there somewhere in Taiwan. How about trading some Nantou back? ;-)

I wasn't convinced at first that this should be a 90 points dram, certainly the second or third dram told me so.

    10cl sample.

Aberlour Abunadh batch #60 VS Aberlour 9-year-old CA 55,1%

to begin with - this is not a fair match. the abunadh is not even close to getting where the cadenhead bottling is. the abunadh shows a nice direction but the trip ends very fast. the casks used here were not the fanciest ones unfortunately. after the first three seconds in your mouth everything goes downwards. not even the high abv of over 60% can help it. although, one must mention that the high abv does not feel as too much. still, no complexity, waters down in your mouth very fast and finished rather disappointing.

and then there is the cadenhead bottling :) oh my god how beatiful this whisky is. the nose gives you gummibears and sweet wet oak with artificial banana flavours. the cask(s) used here must have been very active and wet as november. just a gorgeous dram. it is very sad that i only have this one sample of it. if there is a possibility for you to get a bottle you should :)

wooow this is something. chocobananas from casali. danone fruchtzwerg banana. very deep and rich. fresh cinnamon. i would never ever give this 8 years. sweet wet wood. forest honey. dried plums and figs. red haribo gummibears. marmelade. gellied ginger.

intense in the beginning. then opens up and shows a decent sweetness. complex. loaded with fruits. the stuff you get from heavy sherries whiskies but fresher. as you would leave the raisins, dried plums and so on in water for a few hours. christmas spices.

beatiful texture, although not very oily. numbs the uper part of the mouth. the finish makes you very sad that it is over. especially when there is nothing left of this stunning liquid.
