[November, 2002]  I had this dram during an "old bottles" tasting in Bonn. In my old rating system (ten scales that translate into WB points: 50
    - 66 - 75 - 80 - 82,5 - 85 - 87,5 - 90 - 92,5 - 95) I scored this 87,5.
My notes state an average dark sherry colour and a fat, oily texture.  The nose is all about delicious sherry and fruity aromas like raisins, prunes, currants and hints of blackberries and elderflowers.  There is a very nice OBF too (old bottle flavour:  these light lacquer aromas indicate a high quality old spirit and a perfect maturation).  The mouthfeel is smooth and mellow.  The body has a perfect sherry profile that comes in several tingling waves.  The finish is rather short but nevertheless very enjoyable.

A qualitative leap from the 12yo. More complex, more interesting. A very nice malt served by a final set back.
    • Nose
More complex than the 12yo, it reveals pretty notes of dried exotic fruits (pineapple, papaya, coconut), encaustic, precious wood (cedar), some dried fruits too, as well as balsamic vinegar. Very pleasant.
    • Taste
Again, the attack is watery, but the environment more interesting. Always fruity and slightly exotic, it has a nice freshness with a spicy spice (ginger), as well as a slight vegetable bitterness. The woodland is very well controlled.
    • Finish
Long, but lacking definition, it is also more woody and bitter than the mouth.
