If you expect an outstanding single pot still here, you don't expect too much. Simply ingenious, gets almost everything out of an older PLC that you could wish for. The 27yo is said to be a permanent extension of the Redbreast Range, the statement: "Batch B1 / 19" confirms it. One can only hope that this robin will find its way to German robin dealers so that one can give it a new home year after year at the hopefully slightly cheaper German price.

And there they are, the so dearly revered pot still spices, which press into the nose in a mixture of cinnamon, coriander, cumin, marjoram, nutmeg and pepper. Directly included: A fruity mix of tropical fruits (papaya, passion fruit, pineapple and mango), ripe red raspberries and dried figs and dates. The fruit flavors are all so dense that you can well imagine a freshly pureed fruit puree. Spices and fruits are pretty full in the glass and do not go away for a long time.

Strong and very creamy onset, this fantastic fruit combination immediately lies on the tongue from the nose. A little sip is enough to get the full broadside of fruit. Here now with a focus on tropical fruits, has some of the older batches of Redbreast 21, but is even creamier and denser. I see the mango almost in front of me, almost as if I could bite off a piece of it. Vanilla and dark chocolate, toffee. Not even as much wood as you might think, just a little dryness that spreads over time without weakening the fruit notes. Initially still cautious, later the pot still spices come on, become more and more intense, combine with the other flavors in the best way and thus have a further aroma-pushing effect.

Long, slightly dry, very fruity, slightly spicy. The fruits stay forever, accompanied by nutmeg, cinnamon, coriander and curry powder. Dark chocolate with mint.

I really didn’t think anything could top Redbreast 21. This is so enjoyable, the edges are more rounded and the subtlety of the extra oak and addition of port just add more layers and enjoyment. Dangerously drinkable & so much tropical fruit for a 27yr old. This hits all the right notes for me.
    • Nose
Very much a Redbreast. Buttery shortbread cookies, peach, mango, papaya, soo fruity and floral, hint of oak peaks through
    • Taste
Mouth coating, subtle sweetness, again tropical fruits come in waves, oak is here now and a light spice barrel char that balances the sweetness. Portis also making itself known with a red grape/date flavor after the mango/peach subsides.
    • Finish
Very long, still fruity and sweet, but now the oak leaves a pleasant dryness. Red grapes and pineapple are left after all is said and done. It remains warm and tingling for such a long time thanks to the 54.2 abv.

A wonderful Irish. I don't usually care much about a sweet wine cask whiskey but this unusually done well. Props. Lots of tropical fruits here. Thank you to Ryan for sample.

Intense berry party!!! Raspberry, blueberry, blackberries & forest fruits.. Its fresh, fresh fruits, almost like I have a mixed bowl under my nose and some of the berries have been crushed and the juices are intensifying the aromas.
There is an element of candy, sweet raspberry licorice which has me salivating. It's insanely fruity and there are mild hints of mango, peaches, and rhubarb in the background. Oh yes, this is quite the exquisite dram.

Oh wow! the instant arrival of sweetness, fresh fruit juice, its as if I've placed a medley of berries in my mouth, and im biting down and getting explosions of fruit juice encompassing my mouth. It's intense at the start then softens slowly more and more.

The finish is smooth, hardly any burn, only a few drops of water. Sumac on the finish and still very fruity all the way through.
      This was a medium finish.

    Batch 1, 27yo Redbreast. Whoa !!
This is a Redbreast matured in ex oloroso sherry and ex bourbon casks and finally enriched in ruby port wine casks.
    Colour: Copper
Nose: Amazing. Ripened fruits. Quintessential Redbreast. Some caramel. Grapefruit. Almonds. Some mangoes. Fresh walnuts. With water it turns more fresh. Berries.
Palate: Thick, luscious, a little peppery. Loaded with fruitiness, honey, red plums, berries, cherry. The alcohol is a bit prickly. Couple of drops of water makes it better. Cantaloupe, black cardamom & cinnamon. Berry tart. Absolutely wonderful. The oloroso sherry influence brings in some dry fruit flavours like sultanas.
Finish: Very long. A sweet spice oakiness mixed with grapefruit, golden apricots & fresh garden notes.

Wonderful, lovely and enjoyable Redbreast. Bursting with flavours
