I have tried whiskey, matured in barrels of various beers, but I have never seen such a distinct taste of stout. The feeling is as if you are drinking whiskey with a small sip of very bright dark beer. The experience is cool and extremely curious, but is it good overall ?! Probably not very much.
    • Nose
Honey, pine nuts, fresh oak board and burnt brown bread crust.
    • Taste
Tannins, rye bread, burnt bitter sugar, coffee and dark beer flavor.
    • Finish
Long-lasting, "beer", with hints of strong black coffee, popcorn, drenched in caramel and prunes. In the end, a distinct stout flavor haunts for a long time.

Grain spirits are well felt here. It's disgusting to drink, I want to pour something and cover it with ice. The attempt to obtain aged birches failed. It's hard to call it whiskey.
    • Nose
All the worst scent tones: distiller smell, peanut butter, dental medicine
    • Taste
The notes of the imperial stout are hardly caught, everything is muffled by the same tones from the aroma.
    • Finish
Continuation of aroma, plus grain alcohols.

A lot of online reviews have been harsh on this whiskey. Note that it's 50% wheat so it will be a bit different than your typical blend or Single Malt. I tried it side by side with other imperial stout cask finishes (Thomond Gate Peter Lacy and The Quite Man) and it's worth a try. I've also had the Jameson Stout Cask finish before and a few IPA finishes and this is the only one I could detect a compound tasting note - buttered chocolate pancakes!
    • Nose
      70 70
Nose is not what you'd expect - a bit funky, meaty, Bovril-like.
    • Taste
      85 85
Coffee and chocolate notes but I can't get my head away from buttered chocolate pancakes!
    • Finish
      80 80
Some bitterness and sweetness to round out the experience.

There is nothing. What senseless bottling. No stout to guess. I'm cheeky and don't even say whiskey. Guys, you have competitors with West Cork who deliver in a similar to better PLV. Then it doesn't make sense. Sorry.

This one is not in my wheelhouse. My notes manure, coffee, bitter chocolate, hint of dark fruit and ginger.
