Ahhh.... delicious stuff... how do I know this would be so chuggable without even nosing it haha. Everything right with the world, despite omicron being a little bitch.

Not super sherried, so must be mostly refill sherry or a mix with ex-bourbon. This is a wonderful bottling imported to the USA close to the time of the more famous 57.4% from 1974. While this 43% is definitely not as exciting, it stands proud with its fruits, minerality, and herbaceousness. It is definitely chuggable, but oh... I wish I have enough money to chug this all night long.... On another note, I am drinking this sample from riekio during a NYC wintry night, and so, scores are usually less a point due to the temperature.

Probably shouldn't have diluted to 43%... the finish is not long.

Big rich fruit on the nose. Creme brûlée, grape jam, fruit punch, vanilla and supple Sherry
    • Taste
      95 95
Rich sherried oak, spicy cinnamon spiked egg nog, chocolate covered strawberries and cinnamon coated almonds. The spirit has nice legs on the glass and has an oiliness that superbly coats the palate.
    • Finish
      94 94
Moderate to long finish where the cinnamon spice clings to the back of the palate. There might even be just a faint taste of burnt chocolate on the end. A wonderful old whisky from Glenfarclas that I feel grateful to have sampled!

  3. GlenSikkes did not rate this whisky Connoisseur

Tasting Notes by George Grant (Glenfarclas)Bottled as an exclusive for the US market, the 1968 expression has been aged for 36 years in sherry casks. North America’s leading whisky magazine, the Malt Advocate named the Glenfarclas 1968 the ‘Imported Whisky of the Year’ in 2004.

    Colour:  Dark, Amber-Gold.

Nose:  A complex full-bodied Glenfarclas. The aromas are intense, with rich tones of honey, vanilla, liquorice, cinnamon and a hint of peat smoke.

Flavour/Finish:  Gloriously smooth, smoky and long lasting.
