  1. sagara-kun scored this whisky 87 points Connoisseur

Very good Highland Park where the reduction is not too obvious.
    Lacks a bit of complexity.
    • Nose
      87 87
Rather lively nose for a sudden reduction to 40%.
      Leather, cocoa, wood. Slightly astringent.
      Banana compote. Lemon.
      Light cigar.
    • Taste
      88 88
The fruit is more present than on the nose but a little green.
Apricot, apple, pineapple peel. Always that compote of bananas.
      Honey, cinnamon, cocoa powder, vanilla.
      Varnished wood.
    • Finish
      87 87
Surprisingly long finish, on honey, granny apple, pepper and fresh mint.

Very drinkable but not too impressive - actually not worth the current prices
    • Nose
Fresh, honey, hints of citrus fruits, little bit of green fruits, whiffs of peat and leather - seems a typical HP profile - not bad
    • Taste
Punchy, oily, creamy, honey, little fruity, fine oak wood (no leather, no peat anymore)
    • Finish
Medium long, warm, hints of green apples in the end

  5. Waykid scored this whisky 86 points Expert Senior

The taste really couldn't keep up with the really nice development of the nose. Not bad but nothing special.
    • Nose
Apple, heather, light honeyd sweetness, thereunder savoury and bitterish, sweet malt, banana, fresh and delicious when opens up. Some flowery sounds  also.
    • Taste
Waspish, and surprisingly smoky, dry: honey and heather. Dry peppermint and faint fruity and flowery notes.
    • Finish
      Short and quite dry.

  6. QuarterCentury did not rate this whisky Connoisseur

A lovely whisky with a very cool story behind it, here`s a précis of it:

Highland Park launched their first `77 Bicentenary in 1998 and it sold

out immediately. The only bottles not sold were set aside for tasting

and sampling and there were some of these stored in

Japan. These bottles were all but forgotten about, until they were

happened upon in 2008. They were brought back to Bonnie Scotland, where

they were given a handsome oak box with Japanese lettering and an

outline of the country to celebrate the whisky`s Asian hiatus.

  7. Feusi scored this whisky 80 points Connoisseur

Full-bodied and sweet peat and oak notes accompanied by a very fruity sweetness. The finish is almost disappointingly short. Might have a few more v%.
