    comparing three 12yo ex-bourbon orkneys from 2006/2007/2008
    - Chorlton 12yo 62.9% (this one)
    - NSS 2006 57.8%
    - NSS 2007 55.5%

This one is very close to the North Star 2007 @ 55.5, but edges it and wins overall
    • Nose
noses well at full strength. textbook! loads of samphire, mojito, lime zest, peaches, white grapes, little pineapple, chalk and icing sugar. something sweeter there too, rum and raisin? less kerosene than NSS 2007/55.5% but it's there, but more on chalk, and some tangy apricots in pastry.
    • Taste
laser-like citrus and minerals. quinine, samphire, sea spray, fuzzy peaches, something kind of petrochemical-rotting veg (in a good way), would that be ethylene? with water it gets sweeter up front and shedloads of chalk and icing sugar in the finish.

Nice selection by Chorlton. I thought at first it was Scapa, maybe because of lack of sherry that I usually associate with HP. Distillate already presents a lot of flavours with no flaws. Refreshing but also slightly salty/austere. A great whisky to spend time with and explore. Very impressed with what I have tried from this label so far.

Fantastically rough and yet complex. The strength is somewhat demanding. I can understand if this is too much for some drinkers. I had a lot of fun with it.
