A great cask was chosen for this bottling. The malt does not shine with an overwhelming complexity, but inspires with a great and intense sherry aroma. A few minutes in the air before the tasting really does him good. In my opinion, a few drops of water also have a positive effect on the mouthfeel.

    • Nose
The sherry clearly determines what is happening when you smell it for the first time. It is unmistakably a dry sherry, sweet notes are initially sought in vain. I find dried bananas and sultanas, as well as a subtle nutty note. The alcohol is noticeable but much smoother than I expected at this high alcohol level. After some time, the malt opens up a lot more and is now also sweeter. Also, I can now find fresh, ripe fruit, like crunchy red apples and peaches. There is a slightly sour smell over everything and slightly spicy oak notes are also present in the background. After the first taste, the barrel comes more clearly to the fore. I now also find the slightly woody-spicy oak notes on the nose, as well as burnt crème brulée.
    • Taste
It is significantly sweeter on the tongue than on the nose. The sherry is also clearly in the foreground here. The general mouthfeel is very intense and pleasant. You can now clearly notice the high alcohol content, which occupies the taste buds a bit.
    • Finish
In the finish, the oak emerges with a slight bitterness. This brings associations of dark chocolate, burnt caramel, nuts and a hint of a cigar box. Despite the dominant oak, the sweetness remains in the finish for a very long time and forms a nice counterpoint. The finish is long and warming.

      With water:
Slightly sweeter on the nose, but without displacing the spicy notes. That makes it a bit more interesting and complex. On the tongue, it hardly loses any of its intensity due to the water, but the alcohol now seems much better integrated. This makes it easier to enjoy the pleasant mouthfeel a little longer before the alcoholic tingle on the tip of the tongue becomes too strong.

somewhat strong alcohol, with sherry fruits and sour.. a nice musty-dusty, subtle leather note comes almost out of nowhere.. mint and some bitter herb that I just cannot name finish gloriously a nose that started out at 85
    • Taste
      88 88
dry, pleasantly bitter.. the alcohol is strong and nicely tucked in among layers of sweet red fruit preserves, mainly plums and strawberries.
    • Finish

long sweetness and a bit of a prickle, very simple and nice.

Really delicious malt with a very reasonable PLV.
    • Nose
Wonderfully fruity nose. Deliciously sour. Orange, citrus. Then spicy with fine nuts. Polished leather. Spicy forest honey.
    • Taste
Strong start in the mouth. A lot of pressure, but it also tingles very sweetly on the tongue. Sweet almonds and nice walnuts. Is slowly becoming drier.
    • Finish
Long and warm. Nutty. Pleasantly dry.
