Wow, that's a great PLV, I rarely drank a bottle so quickly. The perfect Schlabberwhisky, you can drink super casually, do not need much attention to develop its strengths
    • Nose
Wow, what a nice smell, a lot of sherry, dark fruits, raisins, chocolate, some wood, altogether rather dry, grape nut chocolate, very nice, a fruit fly has just been attracted to the smell and plunged into suicide
More intense after the first sip, more spice and also a little lovage
    • Taste
creamy, full load of she, raisin essence, now sweet, chocolate, a little wood, very pleasant in the mouth, it does not really squeeze, but the Mrryund is still full of aromas, now a few percent more to round it off, but it does not necessarily need it
    • Finish
at the back the grain content comes through more strongly, grain notes, slightly artificial, sweet, but still enough sherry to guarantee a pleasant aftertaste

A really nice blend with outstanding PLV, who cares.
A lot of sherry came into the mixture here. For lovers of sherry fillings like me, a very good alternative apart from the often expensive single cask fillings.
Maybe not ideal for summer, but on rainy autumn days this blend shows its full strength, with warming heavy sweetness, which does not appear overloaded.

    EYE / NOSE
Reddish brown. One senses the deep brown tone of the original sherry coating of some barrels. The alcohol is only perceptible in the background. Very soft, quite spicy nose. Far from being as sherry-heavy as the deep color might suggest. Whiskey should always remain recognizable as such, then sherry storage inspires much more than if a whiskey is drowned in the sherry. Although this sometimes has a certain appeal, it remains a second choice behind the more balanced, elegant whiskeys, which can score with multi-dimensional flavor profiles. Very nice freshness. Light sherry sweetness, fresh nutmeg, caramel, wood.

The 46% drinking strength fits my taste, as so often, like a glove. More power would be safe, but is not really necessary. It is interesting that characteristic grain influences are not dominant in the nose or on the palate. Very well balanced and multi-layered for a blend without appearing arbitrary. Delicate sweetness, blueberry syrup, milk coffee, chocolate sauce, wonderful coffee.

Really beautiful, full of dram. Leather, cereals, spicy and herbal, with a fine honey note, dark chocolate and a very minimal smoke nuance in the background. In the rather short finish, the grains break ground for the first time, quite typical, luckily, however, without the occasionally criticized acetone notes. The malty-grained notes also fit perfectly here. A special mention deserves the price, which is very tolerable at just under EUR 35.

Yes, it is a BFYB bottling. Closed at first after opening the bottle, it seems to add nuances every day.
A sherry oriented nose with candied blood oranges, marzipan and nutty oloroso are its best feature. The taste doesn't reveal 46% rather it seems to be sherry strength and very coating and thus without much complexity on the palate and a short but nice finish. A few drops of water really help to get a bit more strength and nuances out. Well, maybe time will tell - that is if there is anything left in the bottle by then. The dram is dangerously quaffable because I seem to miss the finish whenever I am not attentive, it lets me go for a second dram everytime.

But to say it with Tim Allen in Home Improvement: I want more power! (less sherry)

About 10 days later, the grain notes have fought their way to nose, taste and finish and are responsible for good strength and finish now with quite a spicyness, which is ok as is and shouldn't get stronger for me. Before, the coating sherry left a black hole around my tongue - not anymore - it seems to trend to the grain direction. So this seems to be one of the few instances where black holes disappear. ;-) And power is there now... :-)
Scoring now represents the current experience...

A no-brainer for under 40€. Good sherry fun. Very round and drinkable.

Price / Value wise one if the best blends from my POV. Very smooth, lots of Sherry. An easy all day dram.

Once again proof that good whiskey is not outrageously expensive and does not have to be a single malt per se. What Cadenhead always brings to a first-class PLV on the market really does not have to hide. A wonderfully round, sherry barrel-aged whiskey. Almost a shame as "All day dram". You can also look forward to the future batches.
