    Very complex nose, alcohol is clearly noticeable. Everything can be found on the palate, the alcohol only shows a decent sharpness at the beginning, but it wears off quickly. The finish is short chocolate, then tannins and teen notes dominate, pleasant but unspectacular.

    Overall, a very vanilla-heavy, but neat Nevis. There may be more to get with water. Would the alcohol be integrated a little better ...

      Lots of vanilla, honey, hairspray, malt, citrus, Ben Nevis herbs, white pepper, some nutmeg, clove, caramel, musty kitchen cupboard
    • Taste

      sweet, short hot, lemon peel, strong peppermint, pleasant tannins, caramel, becoming creamy, white pepper, vanilla, milk chocolate, herbs
    • Finish
      87 87
      medium to long, slightly spicy, tannins and teen notes ... peppermint, petals

    This is going to be a sad goodbye. Great great Ben Nevis, complex, accepts water, needs time, but the tropical aromas, herbal Ben Nevis dirt and good bourbon influence is just fantastic. I do not reckon someone will share this enthusiasm, but I do like it, that is for sure.
    This is why I am into independent bottling, to find gems like this one

    Smell: citrus, ripe pears, some banana, marshmallows and fresh mint.
    Taste: Strong peppery start in the mouth, the alcohol is quite dominant. This is followed by a pleasant fruity sweetness from ripe apples, pears and peach, with a subtle lime acid. Some caramel comes through.
    Finish: Quite long, a gentle, spicy wood note spreads and mint comes through again.
    Conclusion: A fairly closed whisky that takes some time to develop. The only drawback, the alcohol could be better integrated.

    A very nice whisky, surprisingly good for 13 yo. Light minerality is beautifully integrated in overall fruitiness. Goes quite well neat but even better being a bit diluted. Light and balanced, this expression serves the best as a summer dram.
    • Nose
      Fresh, tad buttery, vanilla, yellow pears, lemon curd, malty and chalky notes, a bit of honey, some mint. With water comes stronger honey and fruit caramel.
    • Taste
      Slightly sweet, oily, with light peppery side, fruity (a hint of banana, yellow apples, peaches), vanilla custard, herbal tea and a hint of white chocolate
    • Finish
      Medium-long, a bit sweet and tad mineral, bitterish with soft oaky tannins, fruit bubble gum, walnut shells, gentle woody notes at the end

    a bit difficult to access, but once the doors are open,
    there are tasty bits all over

      Dry.. chalk and cold ash.. fresh, out of the oven blueberry pie.. tic-tacs and mint bubble-gum.. very nicely layered.. floral scents over oaky malt.. dill and other garden aromatic herbs.. a rich and inviting nose

      fiery sweet and a tad bitter.. in the beginning, the alcohol really takes over everything else.. with time in the glass, there comes a very tasty, umami note, green limes and a hint of bubble gum and cola-flavoured candy.. the bourbon and vanilla are abundant.. creamy and dreamy!
    • Finish
      85 85
      sweet honey and pepper.. echoes of oak and burnt plastic.. rather short, although the tasty bits linger on.
