Whisky Reviews for Glengoyne Cask Strength - 100° Proof

Fruity and sweet, firm too. Alcohol pretty prominent. Apples, floral. Also a hint of ink from earlier copy machines. Orange too.
Firm, stimulating, fruity; apples, cherries. Full, alcohol prominent. Also sweet, caramel
Peppery still, warming, long. Sweet, honey, caramel, and again apples.
- a very formidable release from glengoyne, almost at par with glendronach cask strength, full bodied, rich, complex, spicy and rich in sherry goodness, sadly no longer in production the new NAS version pales in comparison to this one
- Color AmberNoseQuite fruity would say apple-ish, with some nice maltyness. After a while some more notes come up. nice combination of some flowers, some slightly roasted nuts and some spices... no, more like some herbs.Overal a nice clean nose.Tastequite a nice bit of heat of the alcohol, but not overwhelming.just as the nose quite a clean taste. Overal a nice warm sweetness of ripe fruits. quite nicely balancedFinishquite long, it leaves a nice filmy tasty layer in your mouth, a bit of grainy, fruity finish, with a hint of nutsCommentsrather good whisky, but it requires some time to open up. so pour it in, take a sniff, wait a good couple of minutes and repeat :)
- This provided my first experience of hte distillery at the beginning of my malt-journey. And rightly so - I know that experienced people have criticized this - but in my experience it was pretty perfect, even when I was still unaware of the necessity to add water to these CS-hitters. Full, honey-toffeed grainyness, some apricots all in a very round and consistent whole. Not incredible multifaceted but completely flawless. These cask strentgh OB-Goynes are highly recommendable IMO.
