Single Malt Irish Whiskey, so far so good.
It was time for me to try West Cork. Some people like it some people are disgusted by it. Time to unveil the truth and see how I feel about it. The color is very pale for a Port Cask finish so I am not expecting too much influence there. They used some casks from Quinta Da Boeira which is situated in Porto, Portugal. Let's get into it.
N: Very light and pleasant. Loads of vanilla bursting with forest fruits and red berries. Blueberries and green apples. No youth note, no alcohol burn. Fairly nice nose. (85)
P: Malty. Sweet and round. Triple distillation doing it's magic. Green apples with lots of vanilla and cinnamon. Blueberries with forest fruits and allspice. Great taste. Better than what I expected. (86)
F: Medium. Sweet but after a while it gets dry. Some tannins and vanilla. (85)
This is very reminiscent of the Glen Moray Port Cask finish. I like both. This is an affordable and nice whiskey. I can recommend it if you just want to drink something sweet and nice.
