Whisky Reviews for Kilkerran 08-year-old

- A whisky bold in colour, shy but good in the nose, a bit weak in the palate, and sadly a bit disappointing in the finish.
Surprisingly shy given its bold colour. Needs time to open. A whiff of sea water at first, and rust.
The high ABV could numb your olfactory nerve so be careful. Unripe plum, cheese underneath, then refreshing white flower. Some sugar too. Acidic marmalade. With a few drops of water, there came a little savoury and mossy aroma.
This baby really needs some water. It is smoky, like a bonfire, there's some almond. The re-charred casks did not bring much sherry flavour.
Although not as ashy, in term of finish this baby is as boring as the Lagavulin 16Yo.
Sweet wiped cream, fresh pastry, red sherry fruits - overall rich and complex sherry nose
Sweet dark sherry fruits mixed with toffee and chocolate, prominent black pepper, dry light meaty smoke at the end
Dry, woody, a hint of orange
- Young and feisty, sweet toffee, stone fruit
Toffee, dark licorice, stone fruit (peach, nectarine?}, sweet, ginger, very slight smokiness in the background
smooth and sweet - licorice, spice (ginger), something more citrusy - a hint of orange, toffee, creme brûlée, youthful/feisty.
Long - honey notes develop.
- Leather, dark chocolate, dust, raisins, pepper, humus, hay. 22-22.5-22.5-22
- What an amazing whisky for its age and price!!!
Fruity, dark forest fruits and plum, dark chocolate, old books in the old wooden shelves,
Fruity with hint of sultana and sun dried black grapes, honey and caramel.
Long beautiful finish with after taste of honey suckle.
