A worthy representative of the Aberlour range.

Lush and complex. Fruity notes, fresh blood oranges, raisins, sweet cherries, ginger.
    • Taste
Sweet and fruity aromas, grandma's apple pie, ripe peaches, cinnamon and cloves.
    • Finish
Very long and rich. Fruity, spicy. A little bit of Christmas.
      cool dram

  2. MaroFF scored this whisky 86 points Expert Senior

Quite pleasant with a strong fruity and floral aroma of whisky.
Quite sweet, and at the same time slightly bitter in taste, with a large dose of ripe cherries and apples. Long and mature finish with notes of spices, fruity sweetness and dark chocolate.
    Great position for every day.

  3. ffmdino did not rate this whisky Connoisseur

The batches seem to fluctuate a lot. I only know this one and I like it.
    it's almost sweet
    Water a few drops
    • Nose
Great sherry, slightly oak (different), minimal raisins, earthy, brown apple, slightly a note reminiscent of spray paint, forest messengers with leaves in the tart, sweetness

from the 1920s: sherry!!, raisins!!, tingles, hint of vanilla sugar, sweetness, toffee, milk chocolate, dark berries/fruits
later a fresh note towards mint
    • Taste
      full, strong, oily
spicy, sherry, dark notes, orange, nutty (walnut?), tart, chocolate ~55%
    • Finish
      short to medium long
very spicy, oak, then somehow indefinable but fits

It's rather young whisky, alcohol is quite noticable on both nose and palate, but it has some nice flavors, chocolate, fruits, spices, plums, sherry, citruses.

I am slightly confused why the label reads "Triple Cask Matured" and then only tells us two of the cask types...

    Color: chestnut (1.2)
Nose: nail polish, chlorine, unripe lemon, molasses; sawdust and toluene
Taste: bubble gum, butyric acid, bananas, cola, and oak
    Finish: brief, milk and candy
I did not enjoy this at all, in fact, I find it terrible. Water did nothing to improve it, except mute and dilute the flavours of the whisky. Any of the core range, like the 12-year, or Abunadh, are far superior to this malt.

It noses incredibly hot, tastes like it's been vomited up by a creature, and does not make me want to return for more. Avoid!

    Great stuff for the price.
    • Nose
Rich, moderately volatile, plum, cherry, strawberry jam, red juicy apple, marzipan, candy notes, toffee, blueberry, orange peel, cinnamon, raspberries, wild strawberries, peaches, and honey.
    • Taste
dry, dark chocolate, dried plum, forest fruits, bitter cocoa, spices.
    • Finish
Long, spicy, dark chocolate, dried plum, spices, vanilla, oak.

At the beginning this whisky looks quite young.
I have the feeling that I can still perceive the new make.
Light bourbon & sherry notes. Alcohol is noticeable but not stinging etc.
But first of all it's one-dimensional.
    • Taste
      82 82
      Typical Aberlour.
Fruity, spicy but you can tell that it is not old.
There are hardly any deep or broad flavors, if at all.
For a whisky to drink on the side, however, it is quite good. It doesn't challenge you too much now.
The alcohol is noticeable tingly but not annoying and blends in well.
    • Finish
      82 82
Slight peppery finish. Short to medium.
      Light sherry and bourbon influences.
As previously written, a whisky to drink on the side.

Notes of sherry, interesting, quite fresh. Mix of sherry notes with notes of bourbon casks. Red fruit, some wine notes. But there are also fresh fruits, even citrus. There is a bit of creaminess. Later spices, maybe alcohol quenches a little. Peaches. A feeling of warmth. Honey. Relatively little sherry for Aberlour, more impact of bourbon casks. The second time comes maple syrup.
    • Taste
      81 81
Fresh fruit. Red fruit. Clearly fruity. Lots of spices. Some chocolate. Very spicy. Chili. A feeling of warmth. The impression of a young whisky. The second time, more chocolate and a little less spices. But with time comes more spiciness and even spiciness.
    • Finish
      81 81
Some ripe fruit. Honey. Chocolate. Spices. Hot pepper. Most probably, however, is chocolate, although it is not a very deep aroma. Later, distant aromas of chocolate with mint. Yes, there is a bit of a refreshing feeling

This whisky was a surprise. The smell is a bit disappointing at first but the taste makes up for it. Ginger, honey, maybe a bit of spearmint, lemon grass, kafir. Some spices I can't pinpoint now. Long finish for whisky this cheap reminds me of asian food. Worth buying!
