A dirt cheap peated blend. More pronounced on the peat than for instance Islay Mist. And that said, the peat is in no way maritime.
It's probably as young as they are allowed to come, and it's excessively colored to an almost sherry bomb hue.
It's very simple, yet quite enjoyable, and at £19 I don't regret buying a couple of bottles.

Very sweet, in a candy like way.
      Buttered popcorn.
      Honey mellon, white fruits.
A fair amount of earthy peat smoke.

A little watery mouth feel, but what can be expected from a 40% blend?
There's an undefinable sweetness to it.
Beside that there is very little else than smoke and peat.
      Maybe some dark roasted coffee.
It's very one dimentional and simple, but actually surprisingly easy drinkable.

The peat has a very good lenght to it. Vegetal and earthy.
If you enjoy peat and have your expectation set on par with the price I think this will be to your liking.

Not bad for the price and considering it is a blend.

This is the sort of whisky to be enjoyed on the rocks, it lacks depth and complexity but it's drinkable.

Didn't really get much but peat which is quite dominant on the nose, with a slightly sweet note in the background.

I also got quite a bit of alcohol on the nose.
    • Taste
      80 80
Peatiness, spiciness, slightly watery as peatbogger mentioned.

      Nothing else really.
    • Finish
      80 80
Pretty much peat and more peat. If you're into peated whiskies and want to try something simple then this does the job.

Lengthwise quite impressive for what it is.

80 points from me, not bad but nothing I'll ever really buy again.

This was a sample courtesy of peatbogger. As I say I can't be overly critical because of the price. I would have it in my whisky room on an optic for visitors just to wet the whistle.
    • Nose
      78 78
This has a similar nose as the Ardbeg Drum but slightly better.
The peat smoke is a lot more subtle
Candid fruit, glazed cherries, fruit flavoured water, plastic buckets and empty tuna can.
    • Taste
      70 70
The peat smoke is even more subtle on the taste and it's quite thin but I can't be overly critical because it is what it is.
The candid fruit now tastes more like boiled sweet flavourings.
In fact this tastes like new make with added flavourings.
I can imagine the more you drink this stuff the better it becomes, not way better, just slightly.
    • Finish
      72 72
The finish is short and the peat smoke wins the race of a small sprint.
