- Full review here:
fine, spicy, varnished, iodized, a little salty, caramel, also herbaceous
cooked yellow fruits, some citrus also on tangerine and lemon.
fairly dry woody return rounded off by a trace of milk chocolate.
strong peppery spices, a certain roundness in the mouth just after, a little creamy, the heat of the alcohol is well integrated, amplifying the woody and fruity scents, a little more varnish
bitterness arrives on crushed almonds, this is quickly filled by the rendering of wood, varnish (old glue) and on cooked fruits, a little iodine on the lips.
round, soft, velvety, spicy, oaky, malty, candied fruits, persistent.
- This is very much a Highland Park, in a OB way. The overall profile is the same as Highland Park would put in a core range bottle.
Compared to the Highland Park Cask Strength Batch 4/60.8% the whisky trail 18 is way more rounder, more complex, add water and find the lighter fruits, blind it's unbelievable to think that the difference between the two is only 3.7% abv.
Highly recommended if you like Highland Parks core range.
