warm, aromatic nose with sherry notes, dried fruit and orange.
Spices, fine oak, slightly dark with soft chocolate (cocoa).
Looks noble and elegant. A little later, aromas of overripe tropical fruits are added.
+ H2O: more open and fruity, slightly sweet and spicy, very inviting.
with onset, fiery, warm and spicy, fine oak, slightly sweet, sherry, spices, dried fruit a little dark here too, with barrel and coffee notes, dark oak, sweetly bitter.
+ H2O: soft and aromatic, at first a hint of spicy and lightly perfumed then sherry, spices, fine wood notes, orange, also a little barrel and coffee, delicately tart with a hint of chocolate. Delicious!
initially tenderly tart with fine oak / wood notes, then sherry and dried fruit, slightly sweet and malty, in the end another hint of dark chocolate, soft and long fading.
Really good, but also very expensive ...
- The thing is Holborn if it was any good Macallan would have kept that whisky.
But no doubt, this at some point will be awarded at least 90 points because of its age and the fact it is a Macallan, regardless of what it tastes like.
Time will tell?
