Always nice to taste old distillate from the sadly lost - and long gone - Glenugie Distillery. Not the expected complex fruitiness but more on the simple sweet (brown) sugary side.
    • Nose
Starts auster and malty with cereal and some porridge. Toasted bread and hayloft. Some floral notes of geraniums and freesias coming through. After a while hints and pears on syrup. Sawdust and touch of cedarwood in the background.
    • Taste
Now more on gingerbread, caramelized apples, and brown sugar. Followed by roasted chestnuts and pistachios. Spices of cinnamon, aniseed, and caraway. Fennell. I also got raisins and espresso coffee in the background. It's all quite punchy.
    • Finish
Medium long. Nutmeg and ginger. Toasted almonds. Touch of pine at the end.

The two glenugies I drank recently, the other is SV's 1966, I gave that one 92 points, I think it's great. I also think this one is very good, but it will be slightly lower in comparison.

The smell is coordinated and integrated. This feeling will make you feel that it is not very clear and convenient to express an independent taste. I feel more like a dessert, honey mixed with maltose, dotted with raisins, and some biscuit crumbs, and finally dripped A few drops of lemon juice.
    • Taste
      89 89
Fragrant juice, the flavor is not very complex, the wine body does not look like the high vintage of more than 40 years, it is energetic, and not too heavy (the tannins are very weak, and the tongue is not too restrained), the flavor On the top is a large section of maltose, citrus, peach or white floral fragrance, relatively small and fresh flavor tonality, with a high sweetness. Pleasure is good, opening is good, complexity is medium.
    • Finish

Wow, very powerful finish, long and strong, full of juice, honey, grapefruit peel, some flowers, toasted wheat. No astringency, medium dryness, no bitterness.
