A relatively expensive SIN (without mention of age) but of perfect quality. It combines the maritime character of a coastal Highland whisky with the depth of an unsweetened sherry and the medical notes typical of Laphroiag.
    A real Lord this Lore.
    • Nose
      95 95
At the opening: Salty, manzanilla and medicinal plants and peat (but not a heavy, one-dimensional peat).
After about 10 minutes: sherry very well integrated and not dominant. Not very sweet, rather always salty. Prevailed genus.
      Beyond: tart candy then cereals.

An absolutely enchanting and complex nose.
    • Taste
      92 92
Oily, salty, maritime, despite everything a certain sweetness.
    • Finish
      87 87
"Clean", peaty (ash) a bit like an Ardbeg. Then a certain sweetness brought by notes of sherry, always in the Previllado style. Too bad, the final is not as long as I would have liked.

I really like the Laphroaig Lore, very smoky with room for warm, tart and sweet components.
    • Nose
Clearly beautiful and very pleasant smoke with a soft sherry note. A spiciness with sweet vanilla pipe tobacco. Floral notes are added with a little water.
    • Taste
Pepper, the smoke is quite dominant, but still has room for the sweet pipe tobacco and some oak.
    • Finish
Very mild and long, smoky and dry oak.

    • Taste

    • Finish
Long, smoky, peppery, with hints of the sea and dried fruits.

Lore stands for the transmission of knowledge and traditions. The Johnston brothers laid the foundation for the Lore recipe as early as 1800. Since then, the whisky has been further developed by several Laphroaig distillery managers and master distillers. The new Laphroaig Lore combines this knowledge and the history of Laphroaig.

Nose: musty and smoky, bacon, autumn leaves and wet earth, maritime, some vanilla with brown sugar, green apples, iodine, a few dates

Palate: full, maritime, bacon, smoke, iodine, earthy, medicinal, some vanilla with brown sugar, a few apples and dates

Finish: medium-long, warm, smoky, iodine, greasy sweetness

Rating: a beautiful Laphroaig: smoky, medicinal, maritime, bacon and a few dates. He knows how to entertain and would probably move up to even higher regions with 50% +. Such a simply good whisky.

    88/100 or 6/10

A little bit expensive for a NAS but i dont regret buying it.
This might be the most richly flavoured one form the core range of Laphroiag.

Smoky peaty whisky but not just a simple peat taste.
    Maritime and slightly sweet.
Oily in the mouth but not too intrusive.

Peat / smoke maritime and spicy

The typical Laphroaig smoke in connection with fruity sweetness, strong, spicy-hot oak and exotic spices. I like it very much.
    • Nose
A really great nose, first phenolic smoke and conifer resin, all mixed with sweet malt and juicy oranges. Soon you will also find leather and seaweed, later caramel, honey and raisins. Very harmonious, exciting and beautiful.
    • Taste
Oily on the tongue. Mild at the beginning with a slight malt sweetness and oranges, but then a strong, peppery heat and oak flavor.
    • Finish
The finish begins with pepper and ash, then a really long interplay of sweet, oriental spices and dark chocolate. Fantastic!

I find it quite good though I think I would not be willing to pay the price. Perhaps I would choose the triple cask instead ( have not checked the current price though)
    • Nose
      86 86
very medicinal, very laphroaig, very smoky with a sweet and slightly sweaty background. Reminds me of the quarter cask with a little more depth and a little sherry influence. Ahhh, now I rememeber: triple cask or how was the name of the finished quarter cask?
An easy whisky so far. Not bad , nothing special though. A tad round maybe.
    • Taste
      87 87
smoky and sweet with quite some vanilla. Very easy to sip. Sweet apples. A pinch of salt. I don´t get the sherry notes that it should have but on the other hand it doesn´t need any sherry.
    • Finish
      87 87
      medium, still sweet, very easy.

At the beginning the typical medicinal Laphroaig smoke, provided with an ash note. The smoke dissipates quickly and sweet vanilla flavors follow. Creamy like vanilla pudding. Light maritime and salt aromas followed later.
    • Taste
      90 90
A rather cautious start. Smoky on the palate with
a slight sweetness. This sweetness then turns into a spiciness and sharpness of a chilli. The chili heat remains on the palate for a long time. Light fruit accents in the background.
    • Finish
      89 89
A dry mid-length lingering finish with smoke and some sweetness.
