Speyburn 2005 - 2019, 13 years, 56.9% alc. Bottler: The Whisky Chamber. Ageing: Oloroso sherry cask #105 (refill hogshead).

Nose: Tart and austere, fruity vinegar, sticky dates, sulfur and superglue. I also find dried cranberries, lovage and tarragon, I can also find a slightly salty dryness. In the background old cardboard boxes in a musty basement.

Palate: Full-bodied, intense, lots of dry Oloroso sherry. Raisins, salty licorice and fudge, along with match heads and roasted almonds. Also dark chocolate of the grape/nut variety. The herbal aromas of the nose return, along with a little thyme and pepper.

Finish: Very long and warming, here the sweet raisins are more prominent, the sulfur recedes into the background, the acidity adapts.

Conclusion: Complex, intense, powerful - a composition of extremes. 86/100 points (2022).

Conclusion: This Speyburn clearly stands out due to its characteristics.
Does he look sour? Yes, but only at first glance. The sherry is
dominate. With water a fine, creamy +, woody dram
    • Nose
Nose: sour, wet wood, fine sherry note, 100% UHU. Of the
Nose definitely Oloroso Sherry, has something of raisins in the vinegar
      swim.

Really beautiful Liebstöckl is also there
    • Taste
dry Oloroso sherry, old dad ... it pulls you all
Smooth wrinkles, then a lot of pepper, that almost hurts, from the back
      nice sherry note.

If you hold it undiluted in your mouth for a long time, you can see who is crying
bitch is. Salty caramel in sherry. Licorice. Will be nice in the mouth
      creamy.

He tolerates water really well. Tames it, but also changes the character of the sherry.
    • Finish
      Rather long.

Not a performer but rather strong whisky with a nice sweetness at a very reasonable price. Another example of a successful bottling of an underrated distillery by Thomas Ide
    • Nose
      81 81
A bit pungent and alcoholic-chemical on the nose, but then sweet dark fruits
    • Taste
      84 84
Not as massive as the cask strength would suggest, but definitely present, strong bitterness accompanying the dark sweetness
    • Finish
      84 84
Medium length, nice persistent warmth, candied bitter oranges and strong oak tannins

Totally different. But he has reached me fully.
    • Nose
      Colour:
      Dark gold

      Nose:
It smells completely different. Eagle owl liquid glue. Raisins that float in the vinegar. Wet cardboard and a good portion of lovage.
    • Taste
Full kick. Then it gets drier. But also sweeter. Dr even dries up the Sahara. Liquorice, coffee chocolate, plums and the slightly bitter herbs again. Add a pinch of salt and malt candy. Creamy mouthfeel spreads. Some hazelnut. I find this interplay between brutally dry and sourish to creamy and sweetish pretty cool today.
    • Finish
Rather long. Only again dry and spicy. Then slightly bitter and there is more and more this creamy sweetness. Blackberry liqueur is spreading.
