    Sharp

This is the flagship of the Israeli distillery, as the name suggests. It matured on a combination of casks: former bourbon casks and so-called red wine STR casks. STR is short for ‘shaved, toasted & re-charred’. That shows the influence of Dr Jim Swan who later also introduced this combo at other distilleries like Nc’nean. Let’s put this Classic to the test.

The nose is fairly sharp, I must say. Lots of vanilla, lime and honey. Hint of red berries and gooseberries. Soft spiciness. Grasses and flowers. Not very complex, but pleasant enough. Let’s keep the age in mind.

Light body. Again pretty sharp at first sip. Quite alcoholic. Vanilla, honey, cherries, berries and floral notes. No surprise there. Some nutmeg and ginger.

I get oak, red fruit and apples in the rather short finish.

Nice entry level whisky, but needs more time for the alcohol to integrate properly, I think. But 50 EUR is certainly a fair price. Thanks to Buds & Barrels for the sample.

Good fun & easy drinking, but not too simple
    • Nose
Lots of vanilla and some applejuice (so much for the light & fresh side of it) but as well a lot of dry wood and bitter notes as it often comes with european oak holding wine beforehand. Some mints and coconuts. Dry and even a bit dusty.
    • Taste
Sweet arrival, then the wood's coming through with some bitter notes, some ginger as well, and a lot of barley. Some red jam in between, but that won't last.
    • Finish
Pineapples and coconuts kept in the right place by some earth & peppers.

Drink without water! Otherwise he'll get sour.
A classic single malt without rough edges. Nothing special.
    • Nose
      Malty sweet, a little citrus.
Then honey or ripe bananas during the second nosing
    • Taste
strong, creamy, very nice sweetness, then some oak
    • Finish
unusual oak in the finish, long

A very gentle whisky. A good every day dram. Not very complex, but is this always needed?
    • Nose
      78 78
Very light. Vanilla with some oak, lie a sweet summer breeze.
    • Taste
      78 78
Vanilla and honey on the palate. With a piece of chocolate (percentage of cacao should not be too high) a very pleasant dram.
    • Finish
      77 77
Short, but sweet with a touch of oak.
