The Highland Park Full Volume only matured in first-fill bourbon barrels (200l barrels and 250l hogsheads). Full Volume is one of the few Highland Park bottlings that doesn't play with Norse mythology. It was inspired by the world of music: the bottling symbolizes the importance of creating balance - in whisky as in music.
    • Nose
      87 87
Lemon and orange, sweet, vanilla, grass and hay, maritime notes and light smoke in the background. Later comes some caramel and nuts as well as some seasoning.
    • Taste
      87 87
Sweet, fruity, creamier, vanilla, honey, citrus fruits, spice, a little pepper, malt and nuts, becoming oily.
    • Finish
      88 88
Spicy fresh finish, herbs, grass, citrus fruits, sweet with vanilla and honey, later becoming nutty and malty.

The aroma starts fresh and maritime and then becomes a bit fruity with light citrus fruits, vanilla and mint. Suddenly the whisky smells very clearly of lemon ice cream - I can't get the association out of my head. Clear lemon with a milk / vanilla sweetness, very interesting.

With a little more time, tart and dry wood notes appear, which together with the sweetness described above almost go in the direction of white chocolate.

Overall, it looks relatively dignified and ripe, albeit with a subtle additive barrel aging.
    • Taste
      85 85
The start is stronger than the nose suggested, quite woody and spicy, but also creamy and slightly light-fruity. Honey, again vanilla, some nutmeg - pleasant.
    • Finish
      86 86
The fruits fade quickly, the finish is mainly dominated by light wood and some sawdust, which is accompanied by a subtle sweetness. At the beginning of the finish it also seemed slightly smoky to me, but that could also have been the dry oak.

Quite drinkable and drinkable malt. I think nose is great.
    Solid mediocrity for me.
But doesn't really pick me up either.
Didn't have that many malts from HP yet, but somehow I have the feeling that the independent bottlers bring out the better HPs.

Fresh, slightly minty start on the nose.
Lemon, lime and some rhubarb cake with vanilla and honey. Always fluctuates slightly between sweet and sour.
In addition, it has a slightly flowery-floral effect with fresh wood. Some fresh hay, chamomile tea and shortbread biscuits. I suspect something, really just more subtle, smoke. With a little time in the glass, it looks a bit perfumed.
    • Taste
      85 85
Very smoothly ironed malt. Hardly any corners and edges. Just slightly peppery and spicy. Slightly malty and floral. Fruits like pears, lemons and grapefruit alternate with a honey sweetness. Then it becomes slightly bland and a little bitter.
    • Finish
      84 84
Medium-long finish, also slightly spicy with vanilla and a little pepper.
