  1. KB201 did not rate this whisky Connoisseur

This sweet, fresh single malt comes from the Knockdhu distillery.

  2. Issie did not rate this whisky Connoisseur

    • Nose
Lemon, honey, somehow a bit musty / stale, a few nuts, orange peel, a few grasses in the background
    • Taste
Honey, caramel, nuts, passion fruit, gooseberry, a little melon, pepper and somehow a little something slightly soapy

Very unbalanced, the cardboard box runs through like a red thread. It is completely lacking in aroma and balance. Comes very close to Loch Lomond in the blue can - 07/30/2021
    • Nose
      66 66
Lots of grain and musty cardboard, artificial citrus note, toilet stone, no seasoning, just dull, I don't like the nose at all
    • Taste
      74 74
Very sweet and sticky, the oily texture lasts a very long time, aromatic-woody, burnt grass
    • Finish
      74 74
Fruity bitterness, kumquats, menthol, herb candy, the cardboard box somehow sticks

Lots of malt. A couple of nuts and bread. With oranges, apricot peel and yellow apple with lemon juice. Honey. Removes floral hints, for example. For 40% relatively spicy / hot.

You can drink, but you don't necessarily have to.

Nice and fruity on the nose, a malt note gives it a "creamy" character.
The taste is fruity, alternating between sweet and sour, creamy, but somehow also "thin".
A typical summer whisky that comes out very light. Without corners and edges.
    [81 - 78 = 'ok' whisky -> but do I need a whole bottle?]
    • Nose
      83 83
light fruits of (just ripe) apricots and pears; a slight acidity resonates.
Icing sugar sweetness, a little honey and caramel and a little more obvious vanilla.
There is a certain malty note that makes it somehow "creamy".
Over time, a delicate floral note of heather can be heard far in the background.
    • Taste
      81 81
spicy in the beginning, but no peppery-spicy note; very creamy and malty. Looks a little watery.
Fruit sweetness and fruit acid alternate harmoniously.
second sip: again spice, fruity, malty; Actually nothing changes for the first sip, except for an additional note of vanilla, which is clearer.
    • Finish
      80 80
There is still a little bit of spice, but overall the fruit components are gone quite quickly; maximum medium-long finish.
There is still a bit of the aroma of hazelnut, which leaves a slightly tart note (hazelnut skin? If there is something like that) in the mouth. "Green" notes / oak occurs with a delay.

Sweet tones like vanilla and honey. Next up notes like malt and hazelnuts. At the end it's fruity. Think of red apples and a little hint of lemon.
    • Taste
      78 78
Very nutty! Notes of walnuts and hazelnuts dominate the palate. Grainy notes like all kinds of grains and bitter macarons. Vanilla and honey complement each other. At the end sweet notes of marzipan and moccha.
    • Finish
      76 76
Short to medium-long. A bit boring, but with notes of oak and barley.

Had this one in a mini-lineup with the 18 and 24 yo.
Funny to experience kind of 'line of development' in these drams:
12yo is the lightest, with fruits and vegetal notes and a spicy edge.
18yo already heavier nose, more spice and darker vegetal notes towards wood
24yo pretty heavy on dark vegetal/wood notes and very spicy.
This heavier vegetal and spicy comes along with a smoke-like edge to it.
The same goes for the taste of them, they're all smooth, round, pretty full bodied and thick.
Whereas the 18- and 24yo have some more power and longer finishes, also because of the higher Abv (46% vs 40%).
As for this 12yo: an underrated whisky in my opinion, learn to appreciate it I would say.
    • Nose
      84 84
Fruity, orange, tangerine, floral and vegetal notes, and a spicy hint. Honey.
    • Taste
      84 84
First soft and smooth, then some tingling feeling on the tongue. Peach now, orange, honey, pretty thick and oily.
    • Finish
      83 83
Smooth, peach again, some orange zest, a bitter edge now. Middle long.

    Tasty whisky for the summer
    • Nose
Soft, Aromas of honey and lemon
    • Taste
Soft! Sweet start then light fruit (slightly tropical like pineapple) with maybe a little chocolate
    • Finish
      very sweet and soft

I find the nose quite weak, taste is ok. The finish of this malt is the best. It's ok but not really special
    • Nose
      74 74
sweet fruity, alcoholic, spicy, light vanilla, quite thin, light herbal notes
    • Taste
      80 80
sweet, spicy, lots of fruit, some oak, slightly malty, light citrus notes
    • Finish
      82 82
sweetly spicy, lots of malt and oak, nuts and fruits come through. Very light chocolate taste
