A magnificent representative of one of my favorite distilleries.
Corresponds exactly to the distillery character of Glen Grant and in this respect also moves to a relatively high standard in terms of age and cask strength.
Also totally meets one of my favorite profiles and makes it perfect there, but the complexity is rather limited - on an otherwise very high level.
But you can't have everything in 2022 either. At least not -(more) with a 200 euro bottle.

Too bad I only have one sample. That would be a bottling that I would love to try again and again for months and get to know better, to be able to observe the development and to be able to play with more water and time a bit.

Between 90 and 92 points, depending on how much you want to see this profile again that day. For more than 92 points, however, the complexity and at this level the depth is missing.
    • Nose
      91.5
Wow, the first nose really grabs me right away. A dense, thick wall of bright fruits like apricot, peach and banana. Directly behind it are classic notes of a rich, well-matured bourbon maturation with malt, barley sugar, vanilla, some oak and honey.
      Warm, balanced and sparkling.

As time goes by, it becomes more citrusy, the peach becoming more orange or pineapple and the density of flavors becoming a little clearer.
    • Taste
Lots of barley sugar and fruit sweetness, honey, brown bread and vanilla oak.

The alcohol is almost non-existent. The aromas that are there are pretty much perfect, but not particularly pronounced in breadth and depth.
But hey, if the flavors you find are 24 years old, just under 50 percent and very, very clean, then I have nothing to complain about.
    • Finish
The finish is only medium long. The mouthfeel is classic Glen Grant: oily, brightly fruity, cheerful and persistently sweet.

    Notes of a blind tasting:

A beautiful bourbon matured malt. A real fruit basket and very complex, especially on the nose. It's fun to smell
    • Nose
very fruity nose, apricot, especially peach are present. Then I also added a pleasant malt note with a subtle sweetness. But the fruits clearly dominate. Very complex. some oak and the alcohol is also very light.
    • Taste
Here, too, it is very complex and especially from the fruity side, lots of light fruits, slightly sweet with a little caramel and again the malt. I also have some oak. slightly sharp.
    • Finish
Long and very fruity intense. very salivary. Nice combination of sweetness and a slightly sour note towards the end.

    Depth

Another one of those beautiful decanters from the Cask Strength Collection from Signatory, filled this time with a Glen Grant from 1995 that matured no less than 24 years on a bourbon barrel. It was selected and bottled for the Belgian importer The Nectar.

Wow! This is a veritable bomb on the nose with lots of banana, honey, caramel and vanilla custard. Not complex, but beautiful in it’s simplicity. Delicious.

Nicely creamy on the palate, full and rich in taste. Vanilla, some white pepper and lots of honey precede notes of banana and apricots. Becomes quite powerful, in fact. It even turns a bit old school and offers a lot more depth than the nose announced. Very good, indeed.

And then there is also the long, warm, satisfying finish that secretly makes me long for a second glass.

Excellent cask selection. Thanks Benny & Maarten!

Granted - it does not get much better with Bourbon cask malts from this distillery.
    • Nose
      91 91
Fruity, oily, tart wood spices, this is delicious!
Salted apple rings (what?). That could be a coastal clynelish-ey whiff.
Tropical fruit frenzy follows after a while. Profits a lot from air & time.
    • Taste
      91 91
Immensely multilayered and with a fingerlicking, palate-pleasing viscosity that includes the best of ripe pears, apples, pineapples and pine wood! Honey, lemon oil and vintage varnish (Schellack association) on top. Excellent.
    • Finish
      90 90
Long, lingering fruits, pulsating pineapples, alliterative apples and alternating aromas of sweet and sour.
Pickled ginger. Pure greatness. Pun-tastic Grant!:)

Nose: Fat, greedy, lemon, tropical fruits, honey then vanilla with aeration
Palate: Very fresh, very round and always on the fruits but this time a more pronounced honey side
Overall: Medium, fairly smooth and pleasant with a hint of pepper

The integration of alcohol is just superb!
    Very, too much, easily drinkable
