    Tasting Notes by Adelphi;

    1 of only 254 bottles from cask no. 1786

    Yellow-gold with pale green lights, this has been drawn from a refill U.S. oak hogshead. Surprisingly low beading. Ozone and carbolic to the fore on the nose, with greengage tart behind (slightly tart fruit and pastry). In time maritime notes dominate – seaweed, rock pools, salty breeze and distant beach-bonfires. At full strength the taste is sweet, salty and smoky; fresh and clean, with bitter chocolate and lingering smoke in the finish. Water continues to develop the maritime theme – rotting seaweed, minerals and bath salts – but doesn’t add too much. The sweetness in the taste is enhanced, the saltiness reduced slightly; lively and peppery as you swallow. Medium length finish, but the flavour lingers long.

    wonder what distillery that is, could be Talisker. but not a fan of this one. I just checked the Adelphi notes, and since they only exist in the google cache, I post them here so they don't dissapear into oblivion:

    • Nose
      white wine + (directly after pouring but disappears quickly), smoke +, wood o, shoepolish o, chalk o, earthy o, salty -. = 76
    • Taste
      Alcohol, alcohol, alcohol... feels more like mid 60%s. some smoke and saltyness behind all the pricklyness.
    • Finish
      more salt, with very faint sweetness. With water the alcohol becomes a bit less brutal & the sweetness reminds me of cheap dissolved malt drops. Bit of soapy/bittery/plastic-y taste in there. = 69.
      Edit- after over 1-2 hrs of breathing, some of the plasticy/bitter notes dissapeared, after that = 76
