Another seriously impressive Ben Nevis. The nose is beautiful. Incredibly honeyed and syrupy, it's just wonderful but less "dirty" than any other Nevis I've had. I've never had a nose so syrup-like and honeyed (but really lovely, rich honey!) Wonderful stuff.
Immediately a hit of honey and golden syrup on the nose. The honey is really deep, and is almost somewhat floral, like acacia. Propolis is there and some pears. Really impressive.
Stone fruits (peaches, nectarines). Slight notes of grease and oil, but not at the forefront along with some pears
With water: Stronger orange and grease notes take over. Still honeyed but not as deep
Taste is similar to the nose, but less on honeys and more on oranges (campari!) and engine oil. really oily. Stone fruits still strong. Some coconut oil.
With water: Softer, more on campari, and grease as in the nose
long finish mostly on peaches and nectarines. oranges and a bit of damp warehouse, slight tobacco note. Very nice but probably the weakest part due to being slightly astringent.
Water helps with the finish (although I prefer the taste and nose without) and provides more oil and makes it more citric and rounder.
