Putty, nuts , the wine is noticeable but not disturbing. After a while I am getting the distillery character with apricot, and a little honey. All in all a little harsh.
A bit of water makes it brighter with more yellow fruit such as yellow plums. And it gets quite grassy.
    • Taste
      86 86
Quite the same as on the nose. Grassy and fruity, slightly malty. Very much on the sides of the tongue. Juicy to creamy mouthfeel.
    • Finish
      86 86
the finish is long, very clean with a bit of a salty aftertaste

    Honey lemony maritime nose.
    Extreme barley sugar, citrusy taste.
    Slightly burnt lemony aftertaste.

Is is okay. The nose is a little special but very interesting. Overall, maybe a little too much wood. Full review (german) https://keinehalbendrinks.de/2021/01/27/glenmorangie-mit-prof-dr-tasting/

Old ship planks with varnish on them. Stain. Tequila, brown and cheap. With time rum raisins. Maybe plums too. Slightly spicy. But that's clearly different now.
    • Taste
      83 83
Warming and spicy. In addition, sour red fruits and noticeably wood. In addition, salt and a vanilla pastry. It's more like Glenmorangie now.
    • Finish
      83 83
Sweet and slightly bitter. With fermented fruits. Again spices and wood. The wine cask is now even more clearly present.

Westport is the name of independently bottled Glenmorangies. These are only filled as teaspooned blends. I have a special connection to Glenmorangie, but always miss a higher alcohol strength in the standard bottlings.
Bottling from Wilson & Morgen makes it clear very quickly that this is anything but a tame and reserved Highland Malt.

The influence of the Marsala barrel is already noticeable when the bottle is opened. Sweet wine notes go straight to the nose, paired with an alternation of sweet and sour red fruits. The alcohol is very noticeable. In the background there is a nice sweetness of prunes and oak and a hint of vanilla.
    • Taste
      85 85
First impression is a lot of sweetness, again the red fruits and the prunes. A sour touch is included. In contrast to the nose, the alcohol is very well integrated. It pushes well, but the almost 60% are by no means uncomfortable. The oak influence is noticeable. It gets dry on the tongue and spices create a peppery heat.
    • Finish
      86 86
The finish is very warm and long thanks to the spiciness. Salivation does not seem to stop. There are subtle bitter notes on the tongue. The oak notes last very long.
