    Here is my unqualified opinion!

After pouring it smells sweet, floral, doughy, sprittig and tangy with a touch of sherry but closed ....

Not long torched and sipped ...

The mouthfeel is good, not watery and not oily ...

Initial flavors are quite pleasantly floral, green apples & lemon!

The saliva flows in bulk and opens the dram in the mouth and when chewing and smacking it makes Boooom ...

Elderflower syrup, green apples, lemon with violent tannins (bitter orange). I have the feeling that I just chewed a cork, licked cardboard sprayed with hairspray or sucked soap. Or several drops of liquid soap in the glass.

After half an hour and the third mini sip I have juicy dried apricots in my mouth for the first time.

From the glass it no longer smells of alcohol but of sherry, steak juice and plum and apricot but the bitterness remains extreme in the taste. I have never experienced anything so blatant. Or maybe ...? During a tour of a brewery in a large brewery, I used my finger to rub off a dried drop of a hop resin-like hop extract that was on the outside of a metal barrel, the experience was (in my memory) roughly the same. Only with very spicy solvents / alcohol in which various fruits have been pureed!

Don't get me wrong, I don't find this dram uncomfortable, but extremely ... (Maybe towards bitter high ester rum)
    Or maybe as uncomfortable ...?

Next time I'll try it diluted!

    Nice combination of different barrels.
Typical for Pulteney, the distillery character remains in the foreground and the sherry finish is added in the background.
Offers a nice opportunity to discover the character of the distillery plus the influence of sherry.
Unfortunately he loses something with water, but he definitely invites to play with the water.

Feeling a small alcohol plume without water.
But then typical Pulteney notes. Honey, a little salt, a little lemon, lots of apricots. Then there is a leatheriness and red berries in the background. One notices the sherry influence in the background and complements the distillery character, which is in the foreground.
With water, the malt and cereal notes appear much more clearly. The honey becomes lighter in the direction of the blossom honey, the apricot is barely there, the sherry influence also decreases.

Nice and sweet, but also dry. The 56% only come little by little, but then push on properly. The honey and apricots are still there.
The sherry goes back noticeably with water. The vanilla can be heard more clearly.

The alcohol is clearly noticeable in the finish. Likewise the drought, which is now much stronger.
The saltiness is still there after a few minutes. The apricots can still be felt very easily.

Well that's an obscure one! Keep an open mind and you might enjoy it. Or you might not... I certainly got my kicks out of this one.

Somehow reminds me of what Thompson wrote: Too weird to live, too rare to die.
