Nose

The nose, which starts alcoholic, turns sweet on raisins, gingerbread and candid sugar. Some sour prunes and pipe tobacco, as well as some coffee. Light pepper. It even reminds me of a dark trappist beer! You will be hard pressed to find the Springbank profile in this one. It is there, surely, but the sherry cask dominates. Adding water does make a change. There is the wet plaster again.

Taste

It is almost creamy and a little piquant on the palate. Again the typical sherry influence is there, with a lot of citrus. Very peppery. The high ABV has something to do with that, of course. Unfortunately, it does not cope all too well with water. It does not change the palate, but does weaken it.

Finish

The finish can be called long, with a bit of good will.

Comments

This one certainly is no swimmer. On the nose, adding water is ok, but tastewise it collapses.
