Lots of fresh fruit, melon, apple, citrus fruits (clementine, grapefruit), warm custard and hazelnut biscuit, the finish reveals some passion fruit. Another delicious Glenburgie 98, maybe my favorite distillery. Note that he swims very well.

I can nose this all day, but never ask me to drink this again. Tasted on 1st April 2022 and the bottle was opened recently.

[71-77] Worth a try but not a bottle.

Full of pink guavas, musk melons and ripened papayas on the nose. Especially the ‘guava’ notes are lovely. So poised & elegant.
Some mild oak spice, sweetness, maltiness linger. Lots of freshness & orchard notes

    Sample impression

Still quite fruity on the nose with exotic hints, the whisky then has very strong woody aromas in the finish, which for me are not well integrated into the whisky and negatively influence the further dialogue. From the first impression, nothing you have to have, especially not with the current prices. Assessment (83+)

Fruity granola on the nose with crushed almonds, coconut shavings, raisins and honey. The fruit leaps forward on the palate with mango and papaya, as well as banana bread and maple biscuits. On the finish there’s mint and peach iced tea, along with black pepper, vanilla cream and some herbal spice. A very seductive profile of rich cereal and tropical fruit, and a total gem (especially considering the original release price) that adds to Glenburgie’s growing reputation for affordable high quality fruitbombs!
P.S coming back to the glass now 20 mins after posting the above review, and it’s now an explosion of pink grapefruit. A dram that clearly evolves a lot over time, and pushes it up an extra half point for me, but given can’t do half points will stick to 90!

    Nice drinkable and tasty.
Vanilla, caramel, lots of sour apple rings (those from Trolli). You can feel the alcohol a bit in the nose, but it is well integrated in the taste. You don't notice anything and he doesn't need water either.

Very beautiful balanced whisky, from nose till finish it offers a lot of fruits, especially tropical fruits, with a little sweet note underneath. Very nice.
    • Nose
Fruity, citrus, some tropical fruits as well. Also some clear floral notes. Some pear and a hint of sweetness, honey and vanilla.
    • Taste
Pleasantly strong, certainly not too strong. A lot of fruitiness again, citrus, tropical fruits, some peach. On the background a little of vanilla sweetness.
    • Finish
Still pretty strong, again a lot of fruits, peach, citrus, tropical fruits. Pretty long finish.

Interestingly fruity dram from EID here, different but good.

    Review: https://youtu.be/wWLtyXfGR4U
    • Nose
      87 87
Light, floral, then vanilla, custard, creamy sweetness. Exotic fruits, mango, pickled plums, melon, sawdust, and whipcream. Basically fruit salad with syrup and vanilla whipcream.
    • Taste
      88 88
Good alcohol level, starts up quite sweet with mango syrup, vanilla, bit of oak, but good balance. Second chew adds pepper and spices, and it gets drier as well, with hints of tobacco leaves and dried oregano. Third chew brings some earthier, deeper notes, meat or umami. Overall sweetness is good, just a bit more dry. Quite peppery. Would be good to have a bit more complexity, but nothing wrong with the elements that are there.
    • Finish
      87 87
Comes down slowly, still remnants of the fruity stuff, but also some bicuits and nuts. Melon lingers the longest of all the flavours.

  25. Ostap scored this whisky 91 points Connoisseur

Just a wonderful whisky, light, summer, but rich, bright. The case when whisky is not enough in the sample ...
    • Nose
      91 91
Lemons, vanilla, candy, sweet pastries, at the beginning a bright confectionery theme, a noticeable dessert, herbal tincture (liqueur), light minerality, white cherries, slightly sulfurous, caramel and milk iris in the foreground, exotic fruits background, cocoa notes, grungy, berries, a thick layer of dust in the room, library books. Light, but not simple, but deep aroma.
    • Taste
      92 92
Salty sweet, cookies, vanilla, caramel, a little meat, juicy fruit, tropical, bright, candied fruit, citrus (grapefruit), pine needles.
    • Finish
      91 91
Long, sweet, warming, noble wood, dryness, caramel, metal scale, grapefruit.

It's true that the pre-Christmas Sale Race are behind us ???? but let's return to Black Friday, or rather to the limited edition whisky released for the third time on this occasion for The Whisky Exchange ???? A week after the memorable Friday, a great whisky landed in my glass !!! ???? Sweet ex-bourbon in the nose with an unimaginable palette of foresr fruits with blackberries in the foreground !! ???? Wow! ???? Very smooth, consistent and you can feel the style of an aged distillate. As if you could feel even older components of the distillate than the cover 21 years. There is waxiness, delicacy, a lot of warmth and sweetness. On the tongue very intense, sweet, slightly spicy peppers. For me a big YES! ???? Something like somebody gave us chocolate and didn't say it was chocolate with chili ???????? A very positive surprise for my tongue ???? Warming up from the very beginning. Generally delicate, sweet and pleasant spiciness. Finish quite long, sweet and warming. Overall a huge plus and a big Wow! ???? Great whisky! ???? You have to have such a bottle on your shelf On the tongue very intensely, sweetly, slightly spicy peppers !!! ????????
    .
Well, so let's sing with Fred, Frank or Luis, as you only like ????????

Day 3 of Lockdown - 20th March - A Black Friday indeed. I asked my mom to list down 5 most important item that she would buy in case of emergency. She chosen (1) Rice (2) Canned food (3) Oil (4) Biscuit (5) Meats. I am so glad that Toilet Paper never on her shopping list despite I keep reminded her of this item.

N- Bag of oaks with vanilla, lots of floral, liquorice and juicy strength, chocolate chips with distant woodsheds. Feinty come along with honey, beehive and natural farm-y nuances. The wood seems raw at times, but well sphereed with cedar, cigar box and spices. (87/21)

P- Creamy, elegant, bitter citrus, herb-y with tinge of sweet floral and mint. Pine sap, dense forest of green, scents of natures. Tobacco, cinnamon. (88/22)

F- Medium-long, herbal tones continue throughout with ginger infused Italian Almond tea. Soft dryness, spicy, warming and comforting. (90/22)

A delicate nose: floral, sweet with honey, apples and pears, grainy, some vanilla, galia melon, guave, lemon drops, meringue and a little cinnamon.

  31. Dram Dracula scored this whisky 89 points Connoisseur

Good quality dram for a very good price, if you were able to get in at the price of admission. Not a total star because it's not very complex, to be honest.
    • Nose
      88 88
Gentle. Sweet. Coconut vanilla cake. Strawberry bubble gum. Aloe. Jicama. Lotus root.
    • Taste
      87 87
Very sweet and fruity entry. Almost TOO sweet. Guava, sweet pears, lychees. Candied ginger. Raw peanuts. A bit of smoke. Swims quite well with water. Not very complex, but quite enjoyable. More superficial than deep though.
    • Finish
      87 87
Tinned fruit juice, peppery finish. A hint of dryness. The oak gets louder at the end. Bitter pill and cardboard also unfortunately.

(Sept 2021) ... to be honest, after opening the bottle 1.5 years ago, I hardly ever reach for this bottle... I think it has too much of the artificial sweetness to my liking, and it's just slightly unbalanced to me. It's still good, but I just don't like it that much... I sold my other bottle of this to a good friend of mine for the same price I purchased it for. Again, the intrinsic quality is there... but at this time in my life, it just doesn't appeal to me much unfortunately.

Value for money from The Whisky Exchange, 21YO Glenburgie for 80GBP. +1 for extremely good value!
    • Nose

Extremely fresh and fruity - guava (exotic!), banana, honey dew. A lovely waxiness on top of the fruits, plus a layer of grass and leaves. Complex enough for experienced drinker, and interesting enough for newbie. Some coffee after a sip, and the wax paper is more apparent.
    • Taste

Really good and my favourite of the three Black Friday releases so far. I’m a sucker for pink grapefruit, so maybe that’s why.
    • Nose
Touches of lemon yoghurt as well as an assortment of other fruits. Mostly in the tropical region, but also some orchard fruit. Touches of meringue and cinnabuns, with a whiff of husks. Lovely balance.
    • Taste
Oh yes, the fruit really stands out here. Creamy vanilla at first, but then a quick hit of pink grapefruit, as well as nectarines and mangos. There’s a tinge of white pepper, as well as marjoran, but also raw sugar. Really interesting… and good!
    • Finish
More of the above. Medium in length.

  41. galg33 scored this whisky 91 points Member Senior

Nose: Quite fruity and light, with exotic fruit salad : Melon, Papaya , guava and mango, all sitting on a fluffy Crème Catalan base. Vanilla ice, icing sugar, white chocolate and apple peel. light and fragrant, not a lot of wood at all, but slightly waxy.

Palate: If you thought the nose was fruity, wait for the palate : an avalanche of lovely fruits, with red grapefruit up front, and more of the exotics : mango, guava and quite some ripe pink lady apples which give way to a lot of spice as well with pepper, mint, and spicy cinnamon gum / ginger, and some polished oak.

Finish: oak, apple pies, Crème Anglaise and cocoa.

Conclusion: Excellent stuff, if you’re a fan of exotic fruit nose/ palate and light fruity / spicy profile, you’re in for a lot of fun. at under 80 quid this is a steal, and no wonder it is sold out. Excellent work there guys, whomever picked this cask, and at this price, I am glad i bought two.
