    An excellent example of "dirty" style, the perfect combination of mineral, industrial notes with creamy sweetness and dry herbs, thick, concentrated, powerful.
    • Nose
      Open, dry, dense smoky peaty notes with an admixture of oily, greasy shades - fried vegetables, deep-frying oil, animal fat, fried meat; spicy woody tones - dry boards, larch, cedar; caustic industrial and mineral motives - welding aerosol, burnt out sparklers, a whetstone, drying mortar;
    • Taste
      Powerful, rich, industrial-mineral with strong sweet-creamy tones, peat, burnt branches, oak, dry medicinal herbs, ginger, grapefruit peel, mineral water with orange juice, buckwheat honey, very thick, thick.
    • Finish
      Dense, invigorating, the same industrial and sweet combinations - sparklers, toffee, boiled condensed milk, ash; metallic sourness, wet tin, mineral water, some smoked meats and fried meat.

    Not overly complex, gets very chocolatey with water

      Artificial sweetness (also chemically), biting lemon, brown sugar, some peat, later on more vanilla;
      with water: lime with powdered sugar, vanilla sugar, a bit pineapple

      Prickling, white pepper, pear, dark caramel, Maggi, chocolate;
      with water: Yuzu Lemon, a bit earthy, cacao powder

      Still a lot of caramel, a hint of plum, meat sauce, slightly furry;
      with water: chocolate sauce, pear, a pinch chili

    Brutal vanilla sugar both in aroma and taste. After the third tasting, in the end, probably the worst impression of all 5 samples. And I really like Glen Scotia 15yo.

    Evaluated blindly from 5 known samples. I guessed Glen Scotia and 1st Fill Ex-Bourbon.
    • Nose
      Vanilla sugar, cumin, dill, fennel, glue.

      With water: Lemon sorbet, cumin, vanilla pudding.
    • Taste
      Yolks with vanilla sugar, lemon pulp, spiciness. The burning of chili, which gradually increases and strengthens. A hint of stale. After a long time, very pronounced acidity. All the time in the background the impression of effervescent tablets or sparkling wine.

      With water: Tea pastry, ginger cookies, vanilla cream, slice of cucumber salad with pepper and tanned cane sugar.
    • Finish
      Orange peel, artificial taste, gum, tablet, mustard seed. Overall bitter.

      With water: Dried lemon peel, candied ginger, licorice.

    SMWS notes:

    An interesting nose - cheap chocolate and puff candy at seaside fairgrounds, pumpkin seed oil, an apothecary and a retired Slubbing Billy*. There's also a hint of smoke if you persevere. The palate definitely gets ash and medicinal smoke but it's reasonably urbane and perfectly counterpoints the cascade of sweetness in the mouth (Crunchie bars, marshmallows in a chocolate fountain). The reduced nose finds creosote, burnt twigs dipped in honey, fruit slice, spotted dick** and well-fired rolls. The reduced palate is a great balance of chocolate bun sweetness with all the make's characteristic masculinity, tar, oak, spice and restrained smoke.
