One should not be misled by the color of the whisky. He has his youthful grades. A few days ago I also had it in a glass, before that the eighth Kilchoman Club Bottling, one of the oldest Kilchoman bottled so far. Subsequently, the Sanaig's youth was noticed even more clearly. Tasted solo, it cuts a fine figure, sherry and smoke complement each other well.

Juicy grapes, dried plums and dates, raisins - a fine, not too strong smoke note. Light spice of nutmeg and bay leaves. Dark chocolate. Appears sweet and fat, but now and then a little youth flashes, which the smoke and the sherry ripening are unable to mask. But that's not a negative.

Lays comfortably sweet and spicy on the tongue. Dry from the start. Delicious smoky notes with Black Forest ham and seaweed. Cold campfire. The drought is very noticeable. Coffee beans, nutmeg, juniper berries, allspice. Cool menthol over time.

Dry finish that just lasts for a medium length with sherry notes, menthol, smoke and a nice spice.

The sherry influence is there, but not as strong as the color might suggest.

Tar, phenolic peat, salt, light dried fruits behind, plum. A little one-dimensional.
    • Taste
      84 84
Coal smoke, some fruit, sweetness, black coffee. Not bad, but the youthfulness of painting cannot be denied.
    • Finish
      84 84
Peat, ash, wort, liquorice, becoming dry and of medium length.

  3. Myke scored this whisky 85 points Expert Senior

A nice malt that has a certain sherry aroma (especially in the nose), but you shouldn't be fooled by the color; the sherry notes are then not so pronounced. Nevertheless, it convinces with its certain sweetness and light spice in the taste. If you are looking for a light to medium smoky malt that also brings sweetness and spice, this is the place for you.

first comes a * light * Islay smoke - in this case peaty - medical-phenolic smoke with an overhang to the medical-phenolic character. If he could breathe something, it turns more into a campfire smoke, even if the medical note never disappears completely. Behind it opens a sherry note with red dried fruit, especially dried plums and dates. In addition to a certain spice of peppery and nutmeg, there is always an alcoholic note on the nose (but that's not bad). If you wait, it gets sweeter and, in addition to the fruits, milk chocolate is added. Somehow I still have something herbaceous in my nose, but I can't really grasp it.

very soft in the beginning with a sweetness and light spice, which also somehow looks sweet. The sherry notes are very good in the sweetness, although it gets quite dry. The second sip makes it even sweeter. In short, I have the feeling that he could turn something into bitterness; Fortunately, this is reflected in a moment. The smoke then becomes more intense and spreads throughout the mouth. Now the campfire character comes out of the nose more clearly.

the aftertaste remains sweet and spicy, with the spice clearly dominating here. He is getting drier and drier out the back - have the feeling that the tongue is dry with dust. The smoke lasts for a long time. He also now looks a bit ashier. A dried ham note is added later.
