These single cask Cotswolds are okay, but I feel the cask takes the center stage and the end result isn't as interesting as the batch releases.
    • Nose
Some PX, date wine, rosemary? Dough, muscat. And some hints of porter. Water brings out butter.
    • Taste
Strong cask tastes, but feels brittle and nervous neat. With water it opens up into something fruitier and more balanced, but I feel there is a bridge missing between the spirit and the wood, something that would give it a rounder, more even profile.
    • Finish
Long, but not full. The OB sherry cask release is rounder and better.

[February, 2022] I had this dram during a FoSM club tasting and did not like it at all. This is young and immature stuff with not any remarkable characteristic at all. To be honest, I prefer any glass of good vodka or gin over such a malt - not kidding. But maybe I am just too old for such paedophilic stuff, who knows?

Unfortunately, he doesn't really convince me. Too flat in aroma, too strong undiluted and almost boring with water.
    • Nose
Very subtle aroma. Here you can easily notice the high alcohol content, mixed with a slight sweetness.
    • Taste
Strong start, very sweet. Then the strong alcohol content of almost 60% comes through and it starts to burn and almost numbs the tongue.

Water helps a lot here and makes the whisky milder, creamier and the wood comes through more.
    • Finish
medium length but metallic, fruity-sweet with wood aromas.
The wood gets through even more with water.

First of all, alcohol gets into your nose, but after a while, of course, it gets less, but it definitely needs time to fly away. Are also almost 60%. But at the same time, thick raisins are also in the nose. Lovely sweet and intense with sherry and sponge cake. The nose really makes a great impression. Again and again, the alcohol returns after some time, which is already very dominant here. This makes itself felt as slightly mentholige notes, disturbing every now and again a little. The fruit is holding back and hardly plays in the foreground. Something orange is to be guessed. I also have a bit of herbs every once in a while. Overall, he likes me quite well though his intensity.

Note we have a 4 year old whisky in the glass, totally impetuous and wild, here there is no peace! Strong alcohol transports here already very great and full sherry flavors. Warming he occupies the entire palate from the front over the tongue to the rear. Sweetness comes through here very nice and stays active. I think he is amazingly voluminous. After a bit of time you will also feel some wood, this note starts slightly and becomes more intense. He also brings coffee notes to the end.

In the finish I have more wooden aromas, remains altogether intensely sherry-ig and I have something metallic later. Lasts pretty long ...
