Whisky Reviews for Glenburgie 2007 SV

7 users have left a review for this whisky and scored it an average of 86.77 points

  1. Izzino scored this whisky 84 points Connoisseur

Definitely one of the most aromatic and intense 12-year-old whiskys I've ever drunk. Full of caramel, raisins, roasted yarn. 64 percent testify to it, but you have to be a fan of distinctive sherry whisky with a dry undertone typical of Oloroso. (Tokaj with vinegar)

So my hands reached for the barrel experiments from Signatory Vintage... I decided to start with Pernord Ricard's workhorse, the Glenburgie distillery... Let's see what they add to Ballantine's there

    ???? Color: amber

???? Aroma: sweetness and powerful dried fruit compote hits the nose from the very beginning... 64% alcohol, but absolutely no alcohol content... spices... apple-plum jam and molasses... ripe figs, apricot jam... more tobacco notes barely perceptibly show through, then chocolate candies with liquor filling... and when the first waves of sweetness leave, minerality and a light waxy coating, inherent in Speyside releases, appear from somewhere...

????Taste: hmmm... but the taste is unexpectedly different from aromatics... there are powerful honeycombs, wax, propolis at once... juicy toffee and creamy fudge are very clearly felt...

????Finish: not sweet at all, but dry and tart... wax, honeycombs (but not honey), minerality, tannins, spices... warms not immediately, as if coming back with a second wave... long...

????Conclusion: a very remarkable release produced not at the most trendy distillery, the independent bottler Signatory Vintage very nicely emphasized its competence in the selection of spirits and barrels. In my understanding, the correct Scotch should be just like that and at that price. Works out its price by 105%. It's not an investment whisky, but one that should be kept in your bar for your own enjoyment. Well, at least try the otlivantik ;)

    ????Points: 87.5

Conclusion: a very remarkable release made not at the most trendy distillery, the independent bottleler Signatory Vintage very well emphasized its competence in the selection of spirits and barrels. In my understanding, the correct Scotch should be exactly like that and at such a cost. Works out its price by 1005%.
This is far from an investment whisky, but it should be kept in your bar for your own pleasure. Well, at least try it;)
