Rum is often divided on rum, but it seems to me to be well integrated here. Nice reddish color. Unfortunately a bit expensive.

Rum and in the luggage tropical fruits such as orange, banana, papaya and mango. Vanilla, slightly sweet and a bit malty-bready. The barrel brings hard caramel pieces and oak wort à la nutmeg, clove and softwood. Also moss and damp rock.

Initially soft and spicy with caramel. Then getting dry. Dark wood, caramel, fruit and forest honey fight for dominance, whereby the influence of rum is always stored. Strong spices like nutmeg, clove and cinnamon make this whisky very powerful. Bitterness and coffee.

rather dry, subtle dark chocolate, spicy with nutmeg and cinnamon, heavy sweetness with honey and sugar crystals, rum fruits and banana, minimal smokiness

the nose is a bit lacking (or maybe i had a bad day).. but the taste more than makes up for the initial let down with powerful fruitiness, vanilla, caramel, sweet confectionery and strawberry jam. the rum is obviously there, but well integrated.. its job was to mellow a whisky that otherwise would have been perhaps too fiery.. and remnants of that harhness can still be felt in the taste which, however, remains the best part here (following a series of more or less unfortunate events, i ended up mixing this with an equal amount of Springbank 15 and the result was not bad at all, with the Arran’s fruits complimenting well the Springbank-ian gravitas). the finish is not necessarily something to write home about, but decent and not unpleasant.. bitter-sweet, with apples and candy. yes, too expensive, perhaps, but very glad to have a bottle of this.. it’s a fun and playful dram.
