- Had high hopes after the last two Ben bracken 18 and 27... But unfortunately couldn't hold it...Not a bad whisky, just nothing special... Still a solid Islay and probably better than a lot of Islay whisky for 40€. But prefer the Ben bracken 18 (87/88 points) and especially Ben bracken 27 (90+)
- Laphroaig (not medical enough), Ardbeg (availability) and Kilchoman (age) can be excluded. If it were a Bowmore, it would be a very smoky and unusual one (but there are also). The light farm or stable note reminds me more of peaty laddies and / or bunnahabhains (although I have no idea whether the former gave off barrels or distillate or how the latter turn out in old age). In terms of sweetness, it could be a dirty - or rather unusual - Lagavulin, or just a Caol Ila, which is probably the most likely.
No matter how you decide the guesswork for yourself: very tasty, tasty and round, and definitely more than okay for the money.
Smells of wood fire and ashes, medically, sea salt. Some acidity resonates with the smell. Sweet vanilla cakes, some mint (menthol) and light fruit notes in the background.
Smoke, ashes, fruity, the mentholhaltig remains in the mouth (only intense) campfire on the beach.
After a long time comes salt and algae.
Medium length, light wood notes (rather licorice), salty
