    Part of a whisky fest.

I had this one 2nd in the night, early enough to make an informed decision and it ended up being my favourite of the evening. I’m a fan of Glentauchers and many of the casks from 1997 have been really great.

Glentauchers is a drinkers whisky. You’re not buying this to flip or get rich in 10 years. It doesn’t come with the price tag of a trendy big name distillery either. A great little value haven, in my opinion.

Nice honey and spice notes, distillate driven. Not overly complex nose, but again I didn’t have the time with it in a festival setting.

Great mouthfeel. Waxy, creamed honey, tropical fruits and melon. Perhaps even a little scotch mint. Really delicious.

Nice finish. creamed honey, mouthcoating and elegant, without flaws. Honeysuckle flowers.

Judging by the upper and lower estimates, this Tokers is not for everybody. I liked it, I love this combination - oil, herb and fruit. Nice malt for a summer evening.
    • Nose
Herbs, sunflower oil, a drop of honey, pear and lime freshness. Everything is very beautiful and the nose immediately invites. I can't say that he is being revealed, he is just the way he is.
    • Taste
Absolute extension of the nose. Perhaps the lemon sourness comes to the fore and the oak is felt, but it is thin and does not interfere. All this is rounded off by honey sweetness. I really like the firmness in the body and the very fresh mouthfeel from citrus and mint.
    • Finish
Medium, mainly on citrus and oak.

good Tokers, the aroma is a little more ethereal than we would like, and a little prickly-pepper and excessively herbal in taste and finish

Nice nose, but the rest... I kind of see why this works well in blends, but I'm not sure I need it bottled as a single malt. :/

Flowery, vegetal and acidic, with scallions, freshly cut grass, and some seemingly good-quality ex-bourbon oak. With time, the wood gives off additional notes of marzipan and vanilla custard. Gets more and more creamy and sweet with time, almost buttery. Wouldn't cross my mind to call this complex, but it's a really pleasant and balmy nose.
    • Taste

Very mild attack, juicy and acidic, grows then increasingly oily in texture. Good mouthfeel, but I can't say I'm crazy about the flavors on display here: lemon curd, cheap sunflower oil, corn syrup. I can't really stomach this very peculiar combination of sickly sweet and sour.
    • Finish
      81 81
Freshly sawn wood, with the zippy tannins producing pockets of peppery heat. Boatloads of slightly artificial-feeling sweetness (aspartame) and a bucketful of oiliness (usually an asset, but only if the flavors it carries are of the desirable variety).
