- SMWS Tasting Notes: Well, this is different – a nose of razor strops and horse harnesses, creosote, dried flowers, lime pickle, Moffat toffees and marmalade and chocolate cake studded with walnuts. The palate has a unique profile too – a ponderous weight of figs and nuts, blackcurrant leaf, stewed prunes and Bovril beef-based drink with a drying finish of perfumed leather, liquorice, cinnamon, clove and curry. The reduced nose discovers a land of rhubarb rock, modelling clay trees and orange groves after the rain. The palate continues to be a talking point – quince, perfumed pear and black Sable grapes, Victory V liquorice lozenges and bung cloths.
