woody, on candied oranges, a little vanilla, grassy traces
malt present, a little bitter chocolate, a little wax
sensation that lasts even after removing the dram
malty sweetness, fine and young varnish which has just been laid, a little leather too, the fruits on citrus fruits especially orange and cooked, candied, caramel in return
herbs with their dried flowers, the wood again and varnish, a little vanilla caramel.
on varnished wood, on cooked malt, cooked kernels, a little toasted coconut, a little ovomaltine, medium finish.

Color: very beautiful mahogany color, copper highlights.

Nose: sherry, sherry sherry, wild strawberries, waxy wood, nuts, hoping that the wood does not attack the distillate too much.
A little chocolate, an impression of “my darling” chocolate. That's right yes, a little cherry liqueur. There is also a nice malt smell, minty freshness with a citrus zest.

Palate: red fruit, leather, nuts, but lacks a bit of liveliness, complexity, a little too straight. Savory notes.

Finish: short on the fruit but also a floral leaning.

Comment: a magnificent nose, but a mouth too “wise” in my opinion. If that had followed, it would have easily earned 2 more points.

Very nice sherry very balanced, could have benefited from a higher abv as lacks a bit of punch, still very good

The finish and especially the nose are very good. In the mouth it is rather boring. You swallow it down quickly, because a long stay in the mouth makes it thin. Still a very nice blend. Full review (in german): https://keinehalbendrinks.de/2020/04/23/blends-div/

A very good selection again from the Thompson Brothers. A very good old sherried blended scotch (malt even from what I read).
    • Nose
Plum, apples, oranges, leather, red fruits liqueur, chocolate and light wood varnish notes. Lovely nose.
    • Taste
Punchy and tasty. Red fruits again, dried fruits, leather, nuts, spices, chocolate and still the liquorish feeling.
    • Finish
      Medium, spicy, drying.

A truly old school sherried dram, and from what I gather a 'blended malt' instead of a 'blend'. Outstanding nose. Highly recommend! 91 overall.

Old school sherry! Herbal, espresso and dark chocolate, orange, distinctly dunnage warehouse aromas. Lovely settled and balanced nose. Age and importantly quality of cask certainly shines through.

Wonderfully slow arrival that keeps developing. Again herbal notes (maybe some sage?), dried sherries in conjunction with espresso. Certainly some woody notes, but not overly cask-driven given the age.
    • Finish
      91 91
Dry (i.e. the nice dry) and leathery - very long.

Amazing old Sherried whisky, well blended. It is almost like a Vatted malt in it’s profile…!
