In the nose there's this metallic note, i also got a while back in a HP, but it was way less present in the Brackla/

It's a fruity easy sipping dram that will not offend.

The aftertaste reminds me of a port finish, as it has that bit of dark chocolat going on in there. but not nearly as much as the linkwood single cask from cooper's choice for example from last year

What was remarkable for me in this dram, was that from the moment of opening there is not a single harsh or sharp edge to be detected. The lack of it especially stood out in the aftertaste.. There's no burn whatsoever. Very peculiar.
It was not my first whisky of the evening though, so next session i'll have this one first to compare.
But even then, i was surprised at every sip how easy it was to sip this away..

A few drops of water will bring out the best of it,otherwise it's just a common one.

    • Nose
Primarily cherry, toffee, caramel. I.e. sherry influenced but strong.
When nose got used to the top layer, it smells more like pear. Some hay.
      dried fig from bottom.
Pineapple and banana from the side.
I caught Mandarin orange from further away
      And some hazelnut.
More fruity than sherry after breathing
Earthy from bottom after a sip.
    • Taste
Started with Toffee and got sweeter and Richer
      med-to-strong Spiciness then kicked in.
Then turned thicker and bitter like chocolate
    • Finish
Still can taste some fruity toffee
      Pepper in mouth then throat
Then black tea at the end of the my tongue

Quite powerful, spicy and very obvious notes of a wine cask, probably a very slight sulphury note but nothing bad
    • Nose
      87 87
Nuts and raisins, wineish notes, whiffs of leather, probably also little farmy or earthy, hints of an old wooden cabinet, spices, little brown sugar
    • Taste
      88 88
Punchy, oily, little creamy, subtle sweetness, spices, more wineish notes, little dried fruits and raisins, hints of cooked oranges, little oak cask, little leather notes
    • Finish
      85 85
Medium long, warm, spicy, more punchy, little peppery, ginger
